I like the idea, but does anyone have any idea how it would work? I mean, there's quite a lot of stuff involved in player creation.

You'd need:-

Position
Archetype
Height
Weight
Extra SA
First Name
Last Name

Then you'd have to consider having the attributes for each player shown, so you could see the difference the height and weight made. It would be a fairly busy looking screen.

Then, what happens if a name is already taken? Would you have confidence that the stuff you've input so far wouldn't just reset?

Names first, and then a next button. That way at least you don't have to worry about that. You could have the differences in height and weight under their drop down menu for the player. Busy? Are the SA boxes busy? And there is only 5 in those, surely 2 more won't make much difference.

If we are only showing the variance of changing the height and weight, then thats cool.

And the name thing, We can go with that.

So, what about the skill points we get to add at the start? Not the 15 you get after creation, the ones you apply when choosing height and weight?

I picture it looking much like the quick tactics and quick training screens. Two input fields for first and last name. Drop-down menus for position and archetype. Sliders for height and weight and another drop-down menu for extra SA*, locked until position and archetype are selected. Successful submission would take the user to a second page where the initial points are allocated. Leave off the additional SA and archetype descriptions, maybe replaced with a link.

* - Both the sliders and the extra SA could move to the second page with the initial point allocation, or the extra SA could move to a third page, a la the current player-building process.

I picture the best way is as you create a player once then you let the system save that player that as a template. Then, with a drop-down menu, have templates for each archetype available that you can use season after season if wanted. This could tie into former-Dub's suggestion of peewee player resets.

A checkbox to save as a template, and the template shares the same name as the player. But, I'm having trouble picturing how to work templates into my vision. Maybe it's a separate "build player from template" page? Could have it list the templates a la the AI pages with a link "Copy to new player."

The player name is somewhat minor. I would see that part staying the same where you can pick a name of your choice or have the system randomly assign one. Or have it assign a name with an increasing number attached to your name that you can change later at your leisure, such as "CDZYO Elusive HB1, CDZYO Elusive HB2, etc)

As for the template name, you can have a user-input like you do saving a depth chart preset. Then when you create a player, you can have a drop-down menu on the initial creation screen where you have the choices (no preset, preset 1, preset 2, etc) that links to the templates that you've saved over the years. If you choose no preset, which could be a default setting, you would create a player just as you do today with the sliders, etc.

Granted, if you are creating a whole team, you would still have to do each player individually, but this way it shortens the player creation time to a few seconds per player. Especially if you include player tactics and equipment embedded in the template. You could even assign a player avatar to each preset.

why dont you just have checkboxers and rows? when you click the checkbox, the options appear.

no boxes clicked:
player 1 (checkbox for atts) (checkbox for height and weight) etc etc
player 2(checkbox for atts) (checkbox for height and weight) etc etc
player 3 (checkbox for atts) (checkbox for height and weight) etc etc

height/weight clicked:

player 1 (checkbox for atts) (height slider- weight slider) etc etc

doesnt get much easier imo. unless you just do it by pages.

do all the players names on the first page, click next and then do the weight and click next and then do the atts etc etc.

if i knew how to use photoshop and shit id show you guys exactly what i meant cuz this looks like a bunch of mumbo jumbo unless youre on the same page as me.

It would be great for pee wee teams, most create the same player type, would kill a ton of time

Create 8 Cbs at once, Create 7 LBs at once, and so on. It's almost as great as a wet dream!
