+1 but only if he can see the "I'm open" player if he is within his line of sight at that moment. As a QB with decent vision should be able to quickly adjust to different receivers in his field of view.

This is what scouting is for. QBs already have a vision cone and they are able to target open receivers in this cone already. I don't want OCs to just be running high school football routes waiting for someone to scream I'm open. It's a game of tactics and planning and the progressions are there for a reason. Scout your opponents. There are plenty of times I mess up and don't include the open man in my progressions, but I just try and scout better for the next game.

again, they already do this
you guys can continue to doubt;
its obvious you just don't know

If they currently do this, then I wouldn't changed it since the QB doesn't have eyes in the back of his head.

Solve this by expanding the custom progressions to allow you to put all eligible receivers on it and let QR do its thing.... The way progressions are right now you are almost forced to put a target into the custom slot at the very least twice just to throw him the ball... expand that slot and allow us to dump a RB at the end to be able to be seen by QR
Now that' s just weird. How many spots is Bort suppose to add. Does he just add the ones you want and ignore everyone else. Or maybe, we realize when we play monopoly, we have to go clockwise around the board and get down to playing within the rules.

QB needs a vision cone, not just a single laser IMO.
He can see/evaluate all receivers in that area (obviously still based on progressions), the more vision you have the bigger your vision cone.

I believe instead that a 'cone' of vision should exist for the QB based on their Vision attribute.
If an I'm Open' indicator flashes AND its within the QB's cone which is likely centered on is current progression, then he sees the I'm open and can make the throw.
If the I'm Open indicator is outside this cone then there is no chance (or very tiny chance) that he sees the target.
This would give the QB some 'peripheral vision' and awareness of the field without making 'Im Open' being too powerful.

again, i'm pretty sure this is exactly how it works...

Care to explain this?
How am I supposed to be able to scout to see which receiver is going to be open???
Seriously not kidding, educate me, us.

Watch your opponents games. Scout their team for plays you either: Want to call, or Worked against them. Look to see how those plays compare to how you have run them. See if there are times when a receiver is open but you are not looking at them. Adjust your progressions to account for those times.
For example if the play is called and your QB looks at WR1, WR2,TE,HB,WR1 but your HB is getting into the open and clear before the progression gets to him, or a team doesn't cover HB's well, change the progression to WR1,2,HB,TE, WR1 or whatever.
This won't suddenly make your QB fire passes at the "I'm open" guy but it might bypass the need by you already knowing your player has a good chance to be open and firing the ball at him as he should break free.
Thats just the basics of game planning. Look to how you do things, look at how your opponents do things, and how others have done against your opponent that worked (or didn't)

this isnt what the thread is about... based off of your progression WR1 WR2 TE HB WR1, if the FB becomes open, the QB cannot see him even if he is screaming IM OPEN.... hes not part of the custom progression and therefor the QB cannot throw to him regardless of his points in Quick read or how high his vision is... the suggestion is to allow a QB to actually pass to the FB if hes screaming wide open and the qb passes his QR check and vision check....
Quick read will allow you to go from WR1 to HB bypassing WR2 and TE, yes, that works, and works as intended... but being able to throw to a guy who isnt on any one of those 5 little checkdown slots doesnt work. Expand it to 6 slots and allow someone to be looked at twice, and allow all 5 WR's to be on it. Not sure how many people only put a dot on the custom progression only 1 time especially if you want to get him the ball. The sim doesnt allow that, you have to force it

I was answering yello's post, not commenting on the suggestion in general.

-1: QBs have a Vision check for that...it shouldn't be automatic.
How often do you see replays in the NFL where a guy has a couple yards on someone & is waving their arms frantically only to have the QB toss somewhere else?

vs how many times a qb improvised and found a rec open that originally wasnt part of the called play?
it happens both ways. but not on GLB
