They do need to advertise. They need to finish the fucking game to a certain degree. They need to quit dicking around and just do it. Hire some more programmers or something. They use users to moderate the forums instead of having a staff. They need a fucking phone number and some customer support. This invisible entity shit doesnt work, they need to make a name and have something to back it up with other than user mods.

They do not need to advertise at this time until they are done making big changes. Get the sim to the point that they aren't doing anything but tinkering with little things. then when they have something that actually looks like a football sim, then market the shit out of it.

They have hired more programmers, just not ones that are working on the sim itself, that has always been and still is Bort's baby. They can have mods that are users, they just need to get more mods that don't have their heads up their asses, too many 12 year olds, on power trips. They do actually have a staff that does support, they don't need a number in the internet age. Who in the fuck would want to sit on a phone for an hour just to change a player name?

The average user doesn't give two shits about the sim. Take a poll and see how many people watch replays.

TBH, I only watch plays in where certain players score, other then that I could give a shit less, and actually laugh at those, whom watch the whole game.

I watch entire games depending on the team. Just a couple. Unless it's an obvious blowout game then i often just go to the box score. But i'm more interested in the teams results than my players.

same pretty much. if my returners dont score, i dont watch replays.

I don't watch many replays either.
I instead go to the scouting tool and see what offensive plays I got burned on, then I go to those replays in the game, then fix up my defense to defend said plays.

Watching the game instead of just looking at the score is my favorite part of this game.

User mods is not uncommon in the industry really.

I dunno. The only two games whose forums I have delved into (I play alot of games but only talk about two, one more sometimes) have had player mods. There are also lead mods that are employees who oversee things but the player mods fill in the coverage gaps. I think that reasonable. Heck in game mods for some big time MMOs are players.

The utter lack of documentation, and the contradictory/obsolete nature of the material that is on the forums FAQs, would be my biggest complaint about "professionalism". But even there the software industry in general tends to suck at documentation.

The sim is the heart of any game like this, whether people watch replays or not.

People build their players to see how their builds can do on a team, and how the team can do with their players. Whether it's just checking scores and looking at stats, or actually watching replays, the sim is the heart of things, and people are much more likely to stick around if they "believe" the results.

I try, when I can, to get players clustered on a team, so I can enjoy watching the games those players are in. If I only have one player on a team, I don't watch the replays except in rare instances (I'd love, though, for the player's highlights page to let one auto-advance from one highlight play to the next; then I'd watch all the plays that my players did something significant in).

I know that I can't imagine playing and never watching any replays. I may be in the minority there; but I'm sure everyone cares about the results, and that's what the sim produces.
