That was the original thought, but I figured that by getting the pool games done early, it would have been a ton easier for the bracket dates. And I wanted to make sure that we got the pool games done early so it wouldn't interfere with the official tourney.

How exactly do we transition from pool games to the bracket? Your format in the first post kind of confuses me.

Isn't it supposed to follow World Cup style?

Its the same format except the bracket is double elimination, making it a true test of who the best is (arguably )

Winner of each pool gets into the bracket, along with 2 wild cards, which will be the two teams with the best record and points allowed will be the first tiebreaker, points scored will be the second tiebreaker.

Then the number 7 seed (will be a pool WINNER once again determined by record, points allowed etc.) will play the number 10 seed (wildcard), and the number 8 seed will play the nine seed (wild card)

That was mainly to give teams something to play for once they lose a game...so they can still be in the final bracket

I may revise the dates of the bracket play within a few days and i may remove the double elimination if you guys want to...but i thought it would be kinda fun

With the way you have set up now, at least from what I gather that you have talked about, only a total of 10 out of the 32 teams will go to the knockout stage. Having 10 teams is the knockout stage kind of complicates things even with the double elimination. Having 16 teams in the knockout stage with double elimination makes it much easier. It would look like this

Hmmm, makes me want to make it 16 teams...

But then it would probably take a bit too long to do double elimination.

The idea was to make the 7/10 and 8/9 teams play a sudden death play-in game to the bracket, so in that case it would not be double elimination, but once we get the 8 teams set, then it would be.

But I'll figure it out by tomorrow if we should expand it to 16 teams and if it should be double elimination or not.
With 16 teams it will be too time pressed for double elimination imo...

What would everybody like to do?

We're guaranteed 3 games. Which is 3x more than any other Tournament I've ever been in.

I like the idea of taking 16 teams into a single elimination round. Bottom line, win your Pool or face possible elimination..

I don't like that at all. What I think we should do is allow all the pool winners and the top 4 runner ups to make it directly into a 16 team single elimination. Then, the bottom 4 2nd place and the top 4 3rd place would play to decide the bottom 4 seeds in the elimination bracket.

The third place teams will be two loss teams, they definitely should not get into the bracket stage...

If it were 16 team double elimination, it would go into the playoffs...

I think it should then be world cup style and have pool play and allow the top 2 teams to make it to the next round and have a 16 team single elimination because otherwise some teams could have to play 10-11 games.

Yeah, the double elimination would take too long...maybe another time..

I have removed the double elimination so that we have more time to do everything.
