They should be able to use a script that looks at a team's previous history and their current EFL and sorts teams into conferences that way.

They aren't the ONLY indicator. I never said that they "didn't mean much." I just said that you can't look at them and then start awarding the trophies. Our team has NEVER been a top EFL team and we have won two championships on our way here, one league and one conference. I am sure that there are many others. And you don't have to look far to find high EFL teams who have choked in the playoffs.

That being said, it IS an indication of general roster strength. But I think you would want to combine that with a historical analysis of the team's success to get a good measure of conference strength so that there is better balance.

and a few seasons ago it was the loleast. It is always going to be a crap shoot no matter what. So much of of the game depends on the quality and cares of the OC and DC on the teams unless that gets figured into to some amazing formula for balancing the conferences it is never going to be very successful

Not really full circle. Just making the valid point, that if you don't have quality committed OC and DC your team will fail at this level and there is no way to work that into any equation

Exactly. Good EF plus good coaches win. Good EF and crappy coaches will fail. Crappy EF and good coaches won't get you too far either.

I still dont understand how a team that basically has only a handful of players at the league sorting phase gets to stay in a Pro League every season ... why are they not forcibly demoted to the lowest uncapped league ?

Exception cases can always be pleaded, but the default should be to demote in sch a case, in order to prioritise league integrity ...
