So they were overly smart and had a game plan where they cut out the short passes.

Obviously there was an input at or near the top of the AI with 1st & 2nd down, that mistakenly (or purposely) had "Any Formation" set, with an output of the Goalline DPC play.
Look around on there, click on some plays. Click on as many as you want, exact same defense every single time.
On 3rd down, it wouldn't fire, so it moved on to the normal 3rd down inputs.
