took me 5 seconds to vote NO on the initial suggestion because of killing regions

but I kinda like the idea of the 2 hemispehere leagues while keeping the Pro regions.
Iīm not sure about the 6 feeders, cause that would mean to kill 2 regions. Either keep 8 or merge it to 4, which would obvioulsy be more competitive.

OPL and EEPL are my homes and I donīt want to see them go, but I could live with the idea of merging 2 Pros into 1. Say we merge with SEAPL, each league gets their own conference. Top 4 of each conference move to hemisphere, 5-12 seed for alpha and zeta battle it out in 1 conference (after the merger), sounds quite competitive to me.
Interconference games and the CCG vs another region sounds like an interesting concept too.
Teams would keep their region icons of course, like WL

What kills me the most is that people don't think.

We just went through an entire league restructure with the age based leagues that caused a lot to demote. There is no way to tell in the amount of time that we have had this league setup whether or not it will make for competitive pro leagues.

Their whole intention of the restructure was to improve minor league play so that the road to the top would be more competitive/enjoyable. Nothing changed with the Pro structure, well except DD gave if a ghey new name in National Pro. Why what you expect the current league structure to improve "Pro".

We fought like hell to get Bort/DD/Catch to put in this hemisphere aspect as part of the league restructure and nail this in one swoop.

Also guys... it would be very easy to add this hemisphere aspect and maintain the 8 pro regions...

I would be willing to bet the majority of those voting against this is solely because they want to preserve regional affiliation.

No new leagues would have to be created... just resort so Pro playoff teams form the hemisphere leagues and the bottom half of Pro combines with regional pro elite (current regional pro elite contracts)

WL

Northern Hemisphere (elite 1)
Southern Hemisphere (elite 2)

Northern Hemisphere Feeder leagues
USAPL
CPL
EEPL
WEPL

Southern Hemisphere Feeder leagues
OPL
APL
SAPL
SEAPL

Make that work and everyone is happy!!

This template is still the best option so far. With the above you eliminate some of the current regional pro leagues by combining the worst of Pro and the best of regional pro. No new leagues need to be created to do this.

Obviously "Pro" is not as strong but the competitiveness should be much improved. Its the only way to have the best of both worlds (no other way to preserve the 8 regions yet improve league competitiveness).

I mean, but we don't know what the minor league restructure will do for the pro competition. I mean, I'm not against cutting down the number of pro leagues, but I think we should see what the most recent changes do to effect this level.

I agree those hemispheres look fun.. We had a cap 46 league when they first condensed them to elite league that was so stacked, made the season a lot of fun and challenging. The one downside of it was the 12th best team in our elite league would have coasted to a gold or at worst silver in the competitive leagues so those teams may get burnt out and also have a hard time recruiting with a 4-12 record etc..

We dont have to see anything... nothing was changed to Pro. Restructuring the leagues has nothing to do with the quality of teams coming up (regardless of the structure for which they are promoting... teams promoting from regional Pro are no better, I would actually say they are worse, then teams that promoted from AAA).

OPL is NOT competitive at all.
I haven't tried in OPL in 7 seasons...

For the record, EEA has been in OPL since season 13.
Our records:

s13: 9-7
s14: 13-3
s15: 16-0
s17: 16-0
s18: 13-3
s19: 12-4
s20: 15-1

No team should be that dominate and yet in EVERY pro league a team has that kind of record. Seriously, in almost a year EEA has lost 8 games in OPL wtf.

I promise you, neither otega or myself has gameplanned for a regular season game since season 15, and that was only because we wanted to go 16-0 (and GCV fucked us in the goat ass in the playoffs)

OPL is competitive for GLB standards for any non-WL league (it's usually close at the top). For the middle/lower teams, it's just as bad as other leagues.

There shouldn't be 10 teams per conference that don't have a fighting chance

To be fair, there's only been a snafu here or there that's prevented EEA from going WL a long time ago. I'm glad you brought this up as this has been one of my many arguments against the current WL promotion/demotion system (as well as an overall argument against WL in general). There are a certain number of teams who, because of the current league structure, are not dominant enough to stay in WL but are well beyond what the average Pro league has to offer. They are often one of the front-runners to go WL but have it torn from under them due to sim logistics. Be it builds, game planning, commitment, WL division structure, or some other factor, these teams will continue to bounce in and out of WL every season.

I know it'd suck for the majority of the current Pro teams (as well as everyone else) who just stand no chance but my position is that the WL needs to be removed and instead have a World title in place. This would consist of Pro being the top level, all teams continuing with the current playoff schedule, and then the top teams from each Pro league (as in the gold trophy winners) meeting head to head in an ultimate title match-up.

The top 8 teams in GLB, after all Pro trophies are decided, go head-to-head in one final battle to crown the GLB Season X winner. Like I said, this would suck for everyone else since it'd be a longer off season but let's face it, the team rivalries, the regional conflicts, and the real pride of GLB has been destroyed since the WL took form.

We all have our own preference and own ties to each region (as was pointed out with the initial vote to do away with regions) as well as seasons and seasons of pride tied to regional "battles". The focus of GLB, with so many demanding to maintain the existing regions, should be to keep those leagues in place while at the same time crowning an ultimate GLB champion. Not disrupting recruiting, isolating the "best", and keeping teams in perpetual limbo with the current promote/demote 8-teams/conference as the WL is set up now.

The problem with the whole thing is that for the most part, the promotions/demotions happen before the rosters are cast. This absolutely makes setting up "competitive" play a total crap shoot. Not everyone is in a network where they can plan a steady path. Many teams are like ours, independent. We have no idea how good/bad our team will be until game 1 of the REGULAR season as it takes this long or more to sign 50+ guys. Shoot, it often takes a few teams folding to get pieces that improve our team. If you want it more competitive, wait until a certain date and then LOCK the rosters for the whole season. Then sort the teams based on EL since that seems to be the most accurate gauge on measuring teams. Yeah it may not pick 100% of who will win each game, but how many times does a team with an EL of 1100+ lose to a team with an EL of 1000?

Once you "lock the rosters and sort the teams", then you can allow a team to sign more players, but don't allow them to sign anyone with an EL higher than their team average. Or fill the remaining roster spots with CPUS that are 20% less of the EL of their team average so teams who do recruit a more full roster do have an advantage.

I don't have all the answers, but when only 2 teams in each conference have a chance, that sucks.

As of right now, at this very instant, there are 3 teams in OPL with the talent to beat EEA/Socal/Buda (and they are all in zeta, lolalpha) So bringing them back is NOT going to help OPL at all in regards to competition. You think those teams are going to try in the regular season? So now we're back to being bored for all but 3 games a season.
