IMO OC's are just using the HB/FB attack to keep from putting in the time game planning.

Hmmm I took a quick look at 6 of your games..... Crib, 85 Bears, Pimps, Philosophers, Garrison, and Lunch

Your passing game:
100 for 245 (40.8%) for 1265 yards
210.8 yards per game
5.16 yards per attempts
21 sacks
15.2 points per game

and 58 % of your pass plays are HB Fly, Shallow Cross, Flood Right, Flanker Drag, Strong Flood, Under Swing, WR Hook, Double Back Hooks, FB Weak Flare, FB Flare (top 10 Plays). That list does not look too uncommon from what I have seen when DC'ing. And the stats are very average at best.

So when you say "I don't see why so many are having problems passing? IMO OC's are just using the HB/FB attack to keep from putting in the time game planning" you might want to tap the brakes and realize that 714 yards @ 12.3 per attempt against a CPU team really does affect your stats

OC's by nature are going to try to find plays that work. Isn't that the point? That is why everyone went to the pass in season 18. Then everyone went to the run in season 19. Etc.. Etc... Then the defenses adjust to the popular plays. The offenses readjust off the defenses with counter plays. And the defense does their best to stop everything.....the season ends and we start again the next season with new popular plays. Sounds like GLB to me.......

PW Gold has the best PW coordinators. The best will always use/do what works to get the win...including exploits.

Teams are starting to contain those plays. It is opening inside rushing up a lot more than it was. It is hard to cheat on defense and you are forced to defend everything, quite challenging for DCs.

it's been extremely challenging for DCs for at least the last 4 seasons ...nothing new imo ...there's always somthn to put us in the deep end ...we either sink or swim!

Something else to consider is that a lot of teams built their offense around a rushing attack with limited passing. Since Scatbacks work for nearly all HB & FB uses, a lot of teams just use all scatbacks at those positions. So when these teams realized that the passing game was slightly un-nerfed from last season, their main passing threats were not WR or TE's, but their Scatbacks instead. Add that to the bug that makes it easy to catch balls out of the backfield, it's no wonder that a lot of teams use this approach for their passing attack.

You only throw to your TEs which do most of the work and one of your WRs might have a decent game. Most of your games your wrs are 0-5, 1 for 6, and so on. The only reason why your team is #1 in passing is your blow out win over SAS when we were fully boosted. You passed for 714 yds and only rushed for a few. There is always more to the story than what is told by the author

We have been #1 or #2 passing for the last 4-5 games. Well before the SAS game. As far as the play selection, yeah I may run similar plays but not target the HB/FB. Guess I stepped on sensitive toes and offended those that are surviving on Scat.

I made a suggestion that could somewhat help this (although defenders would still play it stupidly).

Basically, it would let you assign which receiver to favor when your defender is playing a zone. So if a team always throws to the HB, you can still have a safety play a zone, but you can assign a progression that says he would double the HB instead of the TE or WR2.

Obviously, a good OC can counter by switching his pass progressions to favor a WR2 (for example) which is now single covered. So I think it would add good strategy.

I +1'd it, and Mike, you didn't offend me at all. Sorry if I offended anyone.

My last season in Gold I played balance, but because pump faking out the whole secondary worked so well, and when it didn't the backs couldn't stop the slant, WRs were eating defenses up.

I honestly haven't been watching that many of my Pee Wee sims because I have 55 dots on the DI that I watch and I'm happy with that. I find it way tougher watching this sim as a player than I do as a coordinator, because my dots don't have as much impact on the outcome as the plan.

On the otherhand, when I owned, DCed, OCed, STed, and built every player in Pee Wee, I was much more intimate with the nature of the sim.

This season I'm just trying to do as I'm told and build some decent dots. I don't forsee trying to get back into Pee Wee, though I will be doing 'something' in the No/No realm with my silver 7 team next season. Mostly CPU, but I have a gut feeling on a couple of strategies that I wanted to try out in PW before I left.

So in that sense, I will be more active and know a bit more about the sim from this level of understanding next season, but not as much as I did four seasons ago.

Been this way since Season 9 in Pee Wee. Nothing new at all. It has been that way for both sides. Each season the teams that find the new Holes first do well. Buy this week you should be able to have made the changes in builds and play calling to stop this season Bugs. The game is not geared to Pee Wee, so when they make adjustments to the game it's magnified here. That's what makes it so fun here.

Judging by the changelog and today's sim...looks like passing to the HB/FB just became more difficult. Hope people have back-up plans.
