It looks to me like the punt returner saw that his blockers weren't out in front of him and he was surrounded by defenders ready to kick the hell out of him as soon as he caught it. As a result of a failed vision check he failed to properly call for a fair catch so the ball slid past him and rolled on for several more yards before another failed vision check caused the attempted recovery by another player to be again fumbled. The ball was then picked up by the punting team and ran back.

Oh wait, this is GLB. Scratch that.
