I think EEPL has insulated us, until now, from the decaying league structure surrounding us. While we may be enjoying the music, caviar and champagne currently in first class, I can't help but notice that the SS GLB's bow is clearly underwater and sinking fast.
Would someone please tell me if they see ANY hopeful signs?
for me at least the care level is just not what it used to be
For example I can remember watching each game live without knowing the score. Now days I just click box score and watch highlights.
I kinda think most of the vets are getting to the burned out point and there is very few new guys to pump new life into the game.
Archetypes and new training was a terrible idea...people maybe like some pieces of it but basically in 4 seasons the entire game will need rebalanced again due to much much better builds.
WL is cool but there are no rivalries....I would rather participate in a 51-6 loss to Hood than double digit win seasons in the WL. Great concept but I think the WL has actually hurt the game since declining teams most likely gut and realistically only 8-10 teams have a shot to win it anyway.
Less teams having a real shot at top prize = less cares overall
The game was also fairly static for several seasons. Then catch got hired and just about everything has changed. Most of the changes are just more layers of complexity to the game. It really sucks to have a level 72 plateau dot and realize you can be great one season and terrible the next due to a knee jerk reaction SIM change.
I could go on forever but it is the off season
