Yeah some people here are fucking retarded and ignorant, don't let it get to me though.

ROFL, is that an actual jingle from Oklahoma? I gotta say, it has no rhyme or pep to it.

*Federal Government*

Don't like it? Ok.

*withdraws all Federal funding, relocates all Federal jobs and waits to watch Oklahoma collapse under its own arrogance*

Yeah no $hit, it's called the United States of America (Key word being United, not let Oklahoma do whatever they want because the are illiterate.) and also for those of you that want to Fuck the Constitution, that son of a bitch was written over 200 years ago, some shit has changed over 200 years, and i don't know about you guys but i think they did leave some shit out off the start ( some but not all of these things are called the amendments). All this being said i still don't think Bush should be allowed to piss all over it and say, time of war, time of war, no shit, we always in a war. To sum it all up all Politicians are scum, be they federal or Local.

No, I was saying, at least we aren't one of those other states. It wouldn't even work as a jingle.....fucking seriously.

But yeah telling the feds to gtfo is pretty stupid. Meh whatever, on par with our politicians. Also, lol, I'm from Oklahoma and I am actually somewhat intelligent.

Ok, so just to clarify, Oklahomans aren't illiterate morons. With that said, this is the first I've heard of this, but it's also something Texas has had in place for years. They are allowed to declare sovereignty any time they please.

No, this is different than the Texas legal situation.

The Oklahoma legislature just passed a resolution pointing out the provisions of the constitution to the Senate, House of Representatives, and President Bush. It's not a law or a declaration of independence or any act at all. (And for the not-so-bright haters, it's not something telling the "Feds" to "get out", either.) It's just a resolution something along the lines of, "Hey, we're watching what you're doing. Please remember that the Constitution is the basis of our government and conduct yourselves accordingly. Thanks in advance."

Various resolutions are passed every day by state legislative bodies around the nation. This one is no different than all those.

So then what you are saying is they are wasting there time and tax payers dollars, by reiterating what is already said in the constitution, proving politicians are useless.

Worth bolding IMO. Also, I tend to side with the worthless Oklahoma politicians, as they are more accessible than the slightly more worthless federal politicians. Sometimes the constitution needs reiterating. See: U.S. politics, 20th and 21st centuries.

Exactly. Politicians are low life, self serving scum bags no matter what state or federal office you find them at. Passing one of five thousand resolutions doesn't change that one bit.

If only this were true but it is a myth, we do not have any such right nor does any state in the USA, just look at the civil war.

They're claiming sovreignty under the 10th amendment.

The 10th amendment is easily the most-ignored Constitutional amendment today, even more than the 1st and 2nd. What it says is that any powers that the Constitution doesn't specifically grant to the federal government should instead be granted to either the state governments or the people.

To put it in layman's terms... "Hey, Feds! See this piece of paper? It's called the Constitution. If this piece of paper doesn't SPECIFICALLY say you're allowed to do something, you're not allowed to do it. So bite me!"

And thus ends my participation in this thread. Internet arguments over politics never end well. I just wanted to frame the beginning of the debate in the hopes that page 1 and perhaps page 2 will actually contain interesting and compelling debate before the flame-war opens on page 3.

I have a feeling that the Commerce Clause and the "Necessary and Proper" clause take care of your objections.
