The FS is often the last guy on D so it's important to be a good tackler to prevent big plays.

60 and DvG is not going to be enough imo. 68 and a few points in wrap up/diving tackle SA's along with DvG

68 at minimum and DvG

My FS has 69 natural tackling, & +9 gear/VA bonus + 22% make tackle chance AEQ & he's still missed 5 tackles this season.

With my new FS I'm taking tackling to the 77 cap and will push it to 85+ with bonuses. I'll probably sacrifice a little vision to do it though. I'll also get a Wrap up AEQ piece and get that SA over 10 as well.

Never sacrifice vision, ever! If you have to sacrifice a major attribute do it to Agility, as you can get it to 68 and put points into Change Direction and be willing to sacrifice a little for it.

I'm still talking about 72+ vision.

Probably. But it's fun messing with different builds.

everyone will. this is a moot point
you miss less tackles if you are a more capable tackler
it's like you're arguing that making tackles is not important so just forget about it

personally, I find 72 vision to be too low for any kind of safety

yea you miss tackles but if you check those out they are all from running upfield and trying to make a diving tackle on the running back
almost every single time. Those are the only tackles my CB and FS ever miss. And theres always someone right next to you to make the tackle, you just got there first because you are faster. Tackling is overrated for any FS except a hard hitter.

I have some firsthand experience this season and I think it will help.

For the first few games of the season, my FS was at 61 tackling and 10-12ish in DvG. He missed an absurd number of his tackle attempts (about 50%). I put 2 points in Wrap Up and 4 in Diving Tackle. He has missed far fewer tackles since. I am a firm believer in the usefulness of those SA's. That said, if you don't want to use them, 61 tack/15 DvG is not enough alone.

This is in Africa Pro... in AAA ball he missed 16% of his tackles with 48 strength/61 tackling, 10 in DvG and no points in SA's so obviously level of competition plays a large factor.

I couldn't disagree more. A lot of the time when your FS comes up to make a play 5-10 yards from the LOS it's because the line and linebackers are already beat. As I mentioned earlier, my FS has missed 23 tackles this season. A number of those went for TD's, and even if they didn't they went for an extra 10 yards before the pursuit bailed him out. You miss and they're gone before your teammates can cover for you. Even if they do cover for you, you probably just gave up the 1st down which is very un-clutch. This is painful for me to show, but here's some examples from this season:
Chases down a long screen play only to fail: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1386201&pbp_id=6101659
Gives up the 1st down: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1386210&pbp_id=5470032
2 Plays later: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1386210&pbp_id=5470063
15 yard gain turns into 44 yard TD: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1386116&pbp_id=3597733
Another 1st down: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=1386360&pbp_id=2986637

One last thing I noticed as I read through this thread again:

Speed first, vision second and then agility. I take speed to 77/81 (make the decision depending on where I am with training) and then take vision to 77. Agility the same. I'll be taking tackling next up to either 74 or 77 and probably get jumping up to the second cap. Having said that, I won't be adding anything in to strength. Stamina and confidence will be first capped only too.

My question is, how good is the Zone Focus SA?
