Wasn't old enough to pay attention for JFK, but Challenger, for sure. I did not see it live, but tuned in to CNN right in the middle of a replay just after or before lift off, so I THOUGHT I was watching a live normal launch (either they were not talking over it or I was not listening). Having been to the first one, that shook me.
The Columbia reentry loss was very upsetting as well, but I think I was in the car and heard it on the radio so it was a different type of experience. Not as clear a memory.
Lady Di was another one for some reason. Was gaming with friends and the wife came in all upset and broke the news and it stuck as a memory.
Tuned into 9/11 coverage by accident as well, just before the tower came down. Very impactful.
What was oddest about 9/11 was what happened afterwards. The other guy in my office is an EMT Captain so he was off getting ready to get his unit together to go to New York City to help. No one else came into work. No planes in the air, which is odd around here. Surreal.
