The teams that have to play ACS early in the season care as it's pretty much a guaranteed loss! Those who benefit are the teams who play ACS late in the season as they will probably be higher than ACS at that time.

Well I think its a smart tactic on there part.... Not like 1 loss is going to be the end of your playoff season...

Looking at your schedule i think its a brilliant idea, just sucks for us ;p. The only down side of this full boost for you guys is the end result...no possible way to win a championship. AC is always a good team and this early boost will put you guys as the team to beat until atleast midseason until the rest of the teams boost.

well, stranger things have happened..............there is ALWAYS a chance, if you are there.

Maybe this whole boost early thing caught me off guard and the idea that we are starting 0-1 is a bit of a bummer so i vented.... i take back everything i said and wish everyone a Merry Xmas/ Happy Hannukah respectfully.

Regarding this thread, I wish I could say I have a super secret guaranteed winning formula that requires us to boost in the pre-season. Sadly, I can't say that. In all honesty, I either had a major brain freeze or I am an idiot. Either way the boosting of my players was not planned nor intended. I think I may have clicked on the "boost all" button, I'm not sure. I don't even remember doing it, hence my brain freeze theory.

Since I have a huge amount of the players on my team, it was suggested to the rest of my agents to boost as well to make it a 100% boost effort. The feeling was, since a mistake was made that will likely hurt us at seasons end, we may as well go all out to ensure success during the first half of the season. Current goals now are, stay in Gold, qualify for play-offs and hopefully be able to compete in play-offs, despite the lost level we'll suffer by seasons end. I had planned and will be actice all season, so this was not some auto-pilot idea.

Trust me, no one feels like a bigger dumbass than me over this snafu, but it's done and can't be changed. My apologies to the League.

Of course, everyone else could boost as well to make things all equal again?

Boring man!!!!

We could have had this thread go on all season long.

Boosting early isn't as big of a mistake as people make it out to be. The difference between a level 12 and 13 player is minimal to say the least, perhaps only 1-2 pts in a primary attribute or a full 5 skill pts in a secondary/third attribute. The gains you get for the first 7 weeks of the season when nobody boosts outweigh the cons in my opinion and I've been tempted to do it in the past. You can argue both ways. LSMM as someone else mentioned won Gold boosting on day 1 and a team like the Gamecocks 2 seasons ago waited until the playoffs to boost, had a 15-1 season, and didn't win the conference. To each their own, boost whenever you want, it's your dollar.

Except beating up on a bunch of teams that you have 3 levels on early in the season doesn't really give you any "gains", if your goal is to win the championship.

But if you get your rocks off on beating up on a bunch of teams that you have an advantage over, by all means. There really isn't any advantage to doing it, though (unless you're going to struggle to stay in Gold, in which case your goal probably isn't winning the championship). I guess I just don't get the point you're trying to make. I don't see any real benefit to doing it early, unless the metagame shifts and a majority of people boosted early, in which case everyone would have to in order to make the playoffs.

I mean, I don't care that this all went down (granted, I don't have to play them but I'd like to think that I still wouldn't care). I am interested in seeing how it plays out.

I think boosting this early you only make level 11, not 12. Maybe if you got to the championship game. I believe round 1 would be level 11 vs level 13.

I'm sure Deertagg looked at it from a money aspect. He had already custom fitted all his players. With owning majority of the players that would be quite a waste money wise to retire all and start over not to mention losing the training days already saved up as well. My Idea was since he already boosted all the players might as well have the entire team do it and go on a 10-0 streak. We'll worry about the rest later. No one is stopping teams from matching and Short Bus used to boost starters early all the time for week 1 and then have the 2nd team boost mid way and the 3rd string boost last and start for the playoffs. Different strategies, some work and some don't. In the end it's all about winning or winning enough. I also don't think a team is in the league to "please" everyone else. They are in it for themselves and to do it how they want to do it and do not need the "go ahead, or OK, from anyone. Also AC Surf isn't a mediocre team so if they do go on a 10-0 streak I would bank we will still be competitive even if we are out leveled later on.

Mistake or not, I believe it's a great strategy. I wish I had the balls to match them with a full or partial boost but in this case I think taking the loss and bowing out is the way to go. I wish AC the best of luck this season and Im just glad we finally got to day 1!!

Even doing a full boost at the start of the season by my calculations you'll hit level 12 around day 30 or so, assuming max XP of course. so you only ever fall behind one level and a team like AC Surf still has a chance to overcome that level deficit come playoffs
