I think you took the power back thing too far. 50 strength sounds insane for a power back at that level unless your specials are jacked up as well.

If i were you if your speed, agility and vision are in line I'd work the hell out of your specials because the strength only helps you break tackles in conjunction with speed until you get your specials up in the power back tree.

The problem is you may have ignored something extremely important like vision or agility which are more important earlier on for the power backs.

yea I know. I was just traded to a new team yesterday and the new owner was pressing me to use my boosts on strength...

powerback needs strength carrying and AGILITY, most people neglect agility

I'm neglecting AGI simply because if the game worked correctly, you shouldn't need it for a power back. I don't want to dodge tacklers, I want to mow them over. My thought is high str, spd, and vis.
But the plays I've been watching though, my RB thinks too much in the back field and dosn't hit the hole like he should, even with style on power. Pisses me off...

I think with this game agility boosts your strength; when you shoot through the line faster your strength will work better b/c you're already at full speed. But strength is useless unless you have lower shoulder and power through to back you up.

I believe combo is the way to go; sidestepping a DT and bulldozing over a backer is really ideal in my opion. But I think the people who focus on one SA and only put a point in each SA of the other tree don't do as well, because one point in a SA isn't going to do you much good.

It really does depend on your line though. Even if you break a tackle or two, if the whole line is collasping your done.

Power is better during lower lv's of play when people can't tackle. Once the Defense starts getting faster, strongetr and better at tackling, the Elusive HB's are more effective. I'd say after about lv 14-16 ish, Elusive backs start to shine (Once you max out speed and have agility in the 40's).

I'm partial to an all-around back. That includes blocking and catching. I always figured that, once you get to the higher levels, it's best to take advantage of opponents' weaknesses, rather than try to overpower them with 1 or 2 strengths. That makes vision the most important stat in that build. Knowing what to do and when is key.

I started a back as a power Back, but he was my first build, and I wasted a lot of early points on the power SA's. Then I read that physical stature matters, and my guy is tall and lanky, so I switched to elusive around level 8 and focused on speed/agility/vision in that order, as well as getting some points into the elusive tree. AT a little higher levels, I started getting TFL'ed and stripped all the time, so I put some points into strength. Now I am thinking about getting my strength even with my speed to have a decent combo back by the end of the year.

I may have to get to level 25 or so before he starts to pay off, but he is fully experimental at this point.

The best stat for any HB is a good offensive line. All the stats in the world won't help you if your offensive line is bad.

I'm expiramenting with a balanced build, as well. Very balanced! I've got even stats on strength, speed, agility, vision, confidence, and carrying. I'm training on catching, jumping, and blocking, keeping those even. Also, even SAs. Going to get 3 in each, then stop till about level 25ish. I'm assuming it won't pay off until the later levels. If it doesn't by level 25, I'll retire him. I'll let you guys know how it goes when I get there.

Maybe it is just me (or the fact that my HB was developing while getting pummeled in a really good league), but Power backs take a bit longer to show progress. Getting the strength above 50, speed in the 40's and agi/vision in the mid-high 30's is where they finally start to get decent stats.

But we all know stats aren't everything, except for those of us who like to brag.
