I think fumbles are a little easier than interceptions.
I've build players that are good at forcing fumbles and intercepting the ball too, but as a defensive coordinator, I'm more comfortable counting on my defense to make stops on 3rd & 4th down than I am banking on getting turnovers. I feel like I have a lot more control over how my defense will perform as a unit then when player X will force a fumble or get a pick.
Homer was built to get picks, but if he hadn't gotten any today, would you consider it a failure? No, of course not.
