how is good agility needed for breaking tackles on a PB? Agility is used for breaking tackles for Spin SA. Not anything power.

Bort has stated in the past that agility is in the break tackle formula (even if a minor part). You want all the help that you can get. Remember, I'm talking a true power back, not a combo back.

There really aren't any true power backs left at the top levels, if by power back you're referring to something like 120+ strength, 80+ speed.

If you don't have 100+ speed, preferably more, you're pretty much useless out of the HB position.

For me the magic end number seems to be right around 75. Below 70 is tooo sluggish IMO.

Every HB should want at least 110-120 speed end game.
Powerback = 110 speed/90 strength/80 carry/75 agility
Combo = 130 speed/80 strength/ 80 agility/77 carry
Elusive= 135 speed/85 agility/77 carry/68 vision/50 strength

I was thinking agility only helped for Spin. It practically says as much in agility's description as it reads, "Agility will also help your RB break tackles using the spin special ability." Are you absolutely 100% sure Bort said agility factors into a generic break tackle roll?

early on there was a quote about break tackle being: strength > carrying > agility. carrying has been buffed a bit since then and i'd say it's currently carrying > strength > agility.

though it is curious that it doesn't say anything about breaking tackles on the HB description for agility.

if you really wanted you could do a simple test in D leagues comparing a HB with no agility to one with 30-40 agility.

Not true. A team can make GREAT use of a short yardage specialist and they don't need more than 90-ish speed.

Now if you're talking as a feature back then I agree.

This is very solid advice. I do think there is room for a slower powerback, if you want a true short yardage guy.

A combo back could be effective at speeds below 130 as well (115 even), though more speed won't hurt by any means.

I mean, my own team uses a short-yardage specialist . . . but I don't think that's what people are talking about.
