I was just surprised that only one person in this thread has any real experience with DEs. You can look at my dots and see that I have plenty. I've retired a few, as well. One experimental build that might not work out doesn't bother me; I'm not a real cookie-cutter kind of guy, and my dots seem to do fine. My question in this thread was not, "Do you like this build?" and it wasn't, "Is my tackling too high?"

My reply and from what I've seen from many others is that you are wasting your time on this build.

I will give you that I should have kept that to myself and should have just blatantly answered your question.

Vision to 61
Agility to 73 (will take very very long, because of your build)

Agility is especially important for all types of DEs (its a major for speed and strength DL archetypes) and hence why players want to get it in the 70s as early as possible.

Build has potential to be decent once you get agility in the 70s, but this means paying the price of being ineffective for at least 4 more seasons.

Same answer every time, for me. Win later.

Here's the thing with that DE...You wasted points in tackling, etc...So you're NOT getting good value out of agility (very important for run and pass DE's) So you're actually losing out on value.

I like that build alot, but move all your EQ to STR.
Finish soft-capping agi, then take spd to 73.

2 capping vision after that might help as vision is said to help in FF's.
But you need to shift your EQ to STR so you can rev-cake more often and get more TFL's, as that is what that build is built for.

I had a DE like that, high STR, High TKL, did exceedingly well and with a great DC they can wreck shop, demoralize runners, pancake for the TFL's, and force crucial fumbles. Fuck all of the haters who've built nothing but SPD, and AGI DE's, they don't know a good thing when they see it, and they don't realize DE's have more than just one stat to whore, TFL's and Fumbles are the new Sack.

Agility is a minor. It wouldn't matter if I hadn't taken tackling up so high to begin with, I wouldn't be building my minors before level 30 regardless.

It wasn't a minor before this year.

edit: To answer your question, figure out how high you want vision in the end, then work backwards and take that up first. then bang agility to 77+

even though its a minor its VERY important for all DEs and having low agility just isn't going to help you.

where do you want AGL to be when your players is in his 60s?

badhands, you're just upset because your build sucks and I called you out on it. This game isn't difficult to understand, so it's certainly easy to catch on to. I don't need to be a season 1 vet to understand what a DE needs to do well. Face it, you felt that tackling was a very important attribute from the day you created your player. However, the realization of the poor decision you made is making you believe that just because you have more "experience" than I do, means that my input is useless. Get off your high horse.

Ehr, guys you do know that a person can take agility to 77 right off the bat OR do it later to take advantage of ALG on other attributes, right?

You don't have to build to win NOW. There are alternatives.

Blah blah blah... here's my highest level DE, who has a pretty "normal" amount of tackling. Gudrun was built to be different.

What did you change from season 14 to 15 that you had such a dramatic drop in sacks?

I moved from cap 46 to AAA.

You don't need to start over. A bit heavy on tackling but it's not a game over. You haven't wasted points on SA's which is good. Maybe this guy turns into a bull-rusher or a solid run stopper. Have fun with it, see what happens.

As others said, get vision up a few cap levels and agility as well. Perhaps alternate the two. Personally, I find vision to be very important especially when you start adding SA's to the mix. With all that strength I would be splitting EQ between Agility and Speed. I would suggest you look at intense training stamina/confidence. Apparently they will be playing a larger role in coming seasons.

There are no perfect ways to build players or everyone would have a rock star DE. My DE didn't follow some of the conventions and ended up pretty solid. IMO the whole actual level versus effective level is bull****. Plenty of guys with a +15 effective level that don't do jack on the field. Good Luck.

Both vision and agility are trained to a point where I'd be comfortable adding points to them, and I'd like to go agility next, but vision is a major. So... what next?

Go vision.. And I would switch the EQ into strength. I know these jackasses have their panties in a wad. So I gave you my best input..

Get agility to the 68 cap and keep putting points into it until its around 77 natural. Then work on speed to the same cap.
