Block helps you hold a line, which is good for pass blocking.
Strength helps you open holes, which is good for run blocking.

This is truth. As far as I've seen, blocking helps you sustain blocks and strength helps you move the defenders out of the way.

i think pancakes are just for showing off.. it just means you are strong and just cuss you are strong doesn't mean you are a good blocker...
strength . because even if the DT or De is like 80 strength... he might not be able to shed the block so.....

pancakes ARE just a flashy stat, but if a DT has 80 strength, you better believe the center will get bullrushed over if he doesnt have significant amounts of strength

from all the games ive watched, I will share these GEMS with the rest of my oline brothers

Blocking is used for: holding the dline so they cant just go around you , making it very difficult for the dline to tackle while being "tied up", lets you catch more than one guy on blitzes

agility and vision are needed to activate the "tieing up" effect you use with blocking

Strength is used for: Pushing people with shoves in pass blocking, pushing people continuously in run blocking, pancaking

Conclusion: Strength vs Blocking? You need both if you are going to be an effective lineman. strength helps blocking, anyone who watches their blocking scouting bar will realize that. strength DTs (are there any other kind) WILL trample you if you do not have enough strength. LBs on blitzes WILL just walk by you if you do not have enough blocking agility and vision. Strong arm + strength is also great for handling blitzes if you are strong enough to disengage a NT so that you dont have to block the NT and the LB at the same time.

Okay, I have to throw in some thoughts about pancaking.

To quote from the Pancake Tooltip:
Nothing is as demoralizing to a defender as being knocked on his backside by a blocker.

Reducing a players morale will make them play worse, making the defender easier to block and move. Are pancakes the be all end all of o-line existance? No. However, a morale reduction effect is more than just flash.

lol, okay i answered without giving context
a large amount of pancakes = just flashy and unnecessary
i wouldnt be getting pancakes at all if i felt they were useless..

Bort has said that he has noticed that dlineman underlevel confidence, and that their effectiveness drops severely after being pancaked
All i meant was that if their effectiveness drops after ONE pancake, you dont really need a build that lets you pancake the NTs 30 times a game

and this is all coming from a guy who has certainly whored it up in the pancake department

I prefer to look at the game stats and see no hurries or sacks... I don't care about pancakes.

Should it be Str > Agi > Blocking for OT?

Since OTs have to watch the outside edge I would actually say Block > Strength > Stamina > Agility > Vision

I agree with you. I've followed that logic for my OT and I had a lot of success with it.

the center is like the "BOSS" of the o-line so u have to work block and str together, ur build just looks like one of those, "OH MY GOD I WANT TO PANCAKE".

Pancakes are worth a lot, especially if you're a running team. Not only for the morale factor, but for the ability to get blocks on two different people with one blocker. You basically eliminate the guy from the play and you and the runner are free to the second level.
I think people do flaunt pancakes though like that makes them a great linemen. The pancakes don't do much if you don't have the speed to get to the second level before the back.

Agree..

On topic, i always thought the best for all o-line is to have equal blocking & strength.. just keep pumping them both off the roof
