Like BiggerBlue reiterated....jumping for diving tackles...NOT diving sacks.

a SACK is a tackle on a QB behind the line of scrimmage during a pass play. Are you really that dense?

No one in here is arguing that jumping is something you should 1-cap.
But it definitely increases your sack range. It's worth it to train it to 30ish+.

You may want to pick a fight with someone who doesn't actually know what the hell they're talking about like BiggerBlue.

This is rich, a noob that comes in here and telling regular season vets like us what's right and wrong.

Go ahead, build the way you like it.

A sack is a tackle on the QB behind the line on pass plays... LOL

I'm not going to bother with you anymore.

I've been a DL since season 2. I always like to bump the Jumping and am convinced it does help diving tackles as well as overall play.

Did you look at his players before calling him a newb? Several lvl 53 with effective lvl 60.

I'm not sure why everyone is so convinced that this has been proven by research. Whatever was done, to test this, would have to be redone every season.

Ah, you've retreated to personal attacks now...

You basically spout BS and expect everyone to eat it up, but you're wrong. Hell I can even go into Wikipedia to prove to you what a sack technically is. In football, sacks are only registered when a QB is tackled for a loss during a designed pass play. If it's a QB running play, it counts as a TFL. The sim treats both instances the same except one is counted for a sack and one is counter for a TFL.

A defensive player makes a tackle roll vs the QB's break tackle roll (which is typically very low and never wins due to being in pass mode)...

Now back to the thread at hand, jumping is something you should train, but don't invest SPs into it.

I never trained jumping on my DE's and they were getting sacks. I just started training jumping on my level 69 DE last season and I haven't seen any improvement in sack or tackle totals.

after looking through your DE, he seems to be productive. How early did you start training jumping and to what level?

Jumping definitely helps sacks . . . it increases your tackling radius, which increases the distance from which you can engage the QB. I don't place it early in a build plan, but I don't think it's at all unreasonable to first-cap jumping near the end of your career.

Personally, I like it in the mid-30s.

I paired it with jumping/tackling and then jumping/vision. So not too long ago. It is at 37 now though.

Jumping helps sacks is as much a myth as Diving Tackle SA helps sacks, but keep wasting points in it if you want.

Bort says it helps sacks. Shouldn't that be enough?

@BiggerBlue

I never said anything about the Diving Tackle SA. And I agree with you that the Diving Tackle SA doesn't help with sacks. All it does is boost your tackle roll when attempting a diving tackle (which you really don't need for SACKS because the QB break tackle rolls when passing are a joke.)

"it" = jumping, not diving tackle SA. Jumping helps you get more sacks.

I have never seen a successful high-level (WL) DE who hadn't at least trained jumping up.

Maybe you're the one who's misguided, but it seems you're too busy trying to proclaim yourself as some kind of expert. This has been confirmed multiple times by Bort--jumping increases tackling radius, which helps with sacks.

There are plenty more important attributes, but if you're sitting at 18 jumping you're really missing the boat.
