We need cowtesticles in here to encourage more mid-season guttings.

Going to be a tough year but watching dots get better beats the hell out of watching them decline.

Looks like QCBC has a nice preseason going. That's nice to see, too.

We're up 15 points to 946 now, but at lvl 64/73. I think we'll hit 74 at lvl 65.

I don't understand the effective lev crap, I got a lev lev 71 that had a effective lev of 74 and he has 28 sp's to assign and after assigning his sp's he fell to a effective lev of 72.. you would think it would of rose not dropped.

same thing happened to my oldest players when I boosted today.
Pretty sure it has to do with SAs.

That's weird. It's not SAs - I'm guessing the ranges changed recently (they're based on actual player data in the system) and perhaps your player's EL doesn't change until your points change and force an update of your player page.
I know that SAs (and unspent SP, for that matter) are included in the Effective Level calc

I haven't figured out how the BSA points work on effective level yet, but they appear to bring effective level down.

If indeed the effective level (EL) calculation does take into account unspent SP's, it may be calculating the EL based upon optimum mathematical allocation of the unspent SP's...When you apply the SP's to the SA trees it may make the player more game effective but less than mathematically optimized therefore a lower EL

Looks like it was this:

EL just adds up your stats and converts them to SP values, including SAs and unspent SP. The problem was that the bonus SAs weren't being added in, so your points went from being counted as unspent SP to being uncounted in the new SA. Now it shouldn't have any effect at all.

Really, spending SP doesn't increase your EL value - unless you cross a cap, in which case the portion of the last point you bought across the decimal break of the cap was at a slight "discount" as the formula assumes you pay for each decimal at face value. That little bit of gain is pretty small, though - the real differentiators in EL are the values of the ALGs you get and the training value you've gotten.
