Korb Destroyers v Multiple Scorgasms
What better way to introduce a new team to the Pro League than have them face off against the perennial all-star, Corey Smith, and the top seeded Zeta team from last season, the Rotterdam Roughnecks? Now they have to face off against the conference's most feared defense, the Multiple Scorgasms. Meanwhile, the Scorgasms had a very disappointing opener, losing to the Oslo Beserkers, who are well-known for pulling off upsets. The Scorgasms hope to bounce back and prove that their loss was only a fluke.
Oslo Beserkers v Frankfurt HEAT
Oslo started their season off right by beating a very strong Multiple Scorgasms team very convincingly. The Oslo Beserkers are desperately looking to show some dominance this season and prove that their victories should no longer be called "upsets". Unlike the Korb Destroyers, Frankfurt HEAT was eased into the league, facing off against the SOUTH TEXAS TIGERS, a team that may go winless this season. With the HEAT scheduled to play Oslo next week, it is now time for them to prove themselves. This could be a very good game.
MA Trolls v Bari Barracudas
The MA Trolls made a statement this week by embarrassing the Sandford, Gloucestershire Policeman Officers. They showed that the league swap was warranted and that they may be able to make some noise in the powerful WEPL Zeta Conference. But they will be tested as they face off against a Bari Barracudas team that still looks to be recovering from last season's GM scandal. Bari had an impressive showing against the DFools Allstars, but they know that the road to the playoffs is only going to get tougher.
Paris Musketeers v Rotterdam Roughnecks
The Musketeer's new quarterback, Christian Soldier made his presence well-known in his remarkable showing against the Oxford Eagles. Paris just narrowly missed the playoffs last season, and you could safely bet that they are absolutely determined to get in this season. They have always been on the fringe of being a playoff team, and this may be their season. If they really want to prove their claim, they can do so by beating the Rotterdam Roughnecks this next week. Fans will be excited to see this matchup between the WEPL rookie with all the upside, Christian Soldier, and the unstoppable WEPL All-Star quarterback, Corey Smith.
Sandford, Gloucestershire Policeman Officers v Rohrheim Stampede
Sandford played a very bad game this week, getting shut out by the WEPL Zeta newcomers, the MA Trolls. It doesn't get any easier as they now face the defending champs, the Rohrheim Stampede. Meanwhile, the Stampede are very glad to have narrowly escaped a Dreamer's Cup rematch against the Reykjavik Aggies. Their next few games could help them recapture their breath as they have a very favorable schedule.
SOUTH TEXAS TIGERS v Valencia Billy Goats
SOUTH TEXAS TIGERS didn't look too good in their opener against the Frankfurt HEAT. Now they have to face an elite Valencia team. Valencia embarrassed the depleted Helsinki Horned Frogs and look to continue their early success by waging an onslaught on the SOUTH TEXAS TIGERS. Look for a very impressive showing from Beo Wulf and the fearsome Tazmanian Devil.
Helsinki Horned Frogs v Reykjavik Aggies
A change of ownership almost always equates to "rebuilding". That is what the Helsinki Horned Frogs will be doing this season and quite possibly the next season. The difficult schedule they have at the beginning of this season doesn't make things any easier. Now they have to face a Reykjavik Aggies team that just lost a heartbreaking and close game to the defending champions, the Rohrheim Stampede. Reykjavik has a favorable schedule for the next few games, and they don't look like a team that wants to lie down. Expect a strong showing as the Reykjavik Aggies look to appease their vengeance on a weak Helsinki team.
DFools Allstars v Oxford Eagles
The DFools Allstars had an opportunity to showcase some strength in the opener, but came up short in a 10-29 loss to the Bari Barracudas. Another opportunity awaits as they prepare to face off against the Oxford Eagles. Meanwhile, Oxford really needs to bounce back from their loss to the Paris Musketeers and show the conference that they aren't a team heading in the wrong direction.
Great write up jprietman...not only do you run a kick ass D, but you do a great color commentary as well!

Nice to read, thank you very much jprietman
(As to the Musketeers: we made the playoffs on our first season in a big 5 winning games streak that helped us finish 8th, but loosing the first PO match against Valencia, but well that's only a detail).

thats some great commentary! One thing though, the game with the Policeman Officers wasnt as lopsided as the score would suggest. they put up a good fight and their D actually played very well, they just had some unlucky breaks.

You should have picked the Trolls to win, They don't need any more ammo. AA was just a playtoy for them.

That's true, the score was actually not indicative of the game. We just happened to get some INT's, and the Officers had some bad breaks. That game could have easily been alot closer than it ended up.
