The pick you guys are talking about was the same kind of pass that he completes all the time. When he completes it everyone says "no one else can do that". It's part of the gunslinger mindset. It is magnificent when it works and obviously, deeply flawed when it doesn't. Favre is one of the best ever imo because he can do what so few can with as high a percentage of success as most have doing it by the book.

Funny you should say that, he seems to throw the NFCC game losing pick quite a bit.

Agreed

And Hammer, I agree with what you said as well. He's a Kelly/Marino QB at best. Great numbers, but could only win the big one once.

Wolf - I dunno, I mean, that's exactly the throw he shouldn't make, in that situation. The truly great ones don't try to make that play. They tuck it and get a few yards.

I know what you mean. The best players are usually the ones that know how to play the percentages but what separates the best from the best are the few occasions that a player can do the things that other good players know better than to do with their limited abilities.
He's the riverboat gambler. He knows he shouldn't do certain things but he believes that he can do it where others may not be able. It definitely leads to some mistakes but for a guy like Favre he has made a lot more great plays pushing the envelope than he has bad ones. I am not a huge Favre fan but I am a fan of guys and gals like him in every sport or pass time. Brett Favre = Natural QB!!!

What also kills me, is all these Favre worshippers who fail to realize the amount of INT's this dude has thrown in his career.

You have to take that into consideration but you get the good with the bad. I don't think there is any way one can contend that the bad outweighs the good. It's not even close. Most coaches know what they are getting with a guy like Favre. Some coaches like that kind of guy, especially at QB but there are very, very few QBs that can play that way and have a few good seasons. Favre has had more than a few good seasons. I have cleared my alerts box so I won't miss any challenges coming our way. I hope that wasn't a waste of time.

GO GCMM!!!

Relax, chief. They will be coming from MCRG.

Anyways, I've always had mad respect for Favre. Dude is a trooper. Takes an ass beating, hops up and head butts the defender. You just don't see that anymore.

AAA teams have to wait two seasons until either they make it to the WL or GCMM is demoted from the WL back to OPL. Good luck getting there.

Agreed with this as well. He is one hell of a throwback guy. Doesn't complain about the little nagging shit, just plays.

lol @ the people that blame Favre. Obviously those that blame him did NOT watch the game. As was stated earlier, that play is a routine play for Favre, he is hailed when he completes it, and crucified when it results in a pick. As far as running it? HAHAHA, The dude spent the end of every play laying on his back because of his overpayedunderacheiving O line. Do you really think he was thinking about running after taking all those hits?

The Saints won and are going to the Super Bowl because the Vikings had a bad case of AP hands that day. I myself have never seen more fumbles in a game from a #2 seed in perfect conditions of a dome. It was a pathetic game overall by the Vikings. It makes me worried for the Saints come Super Bowl time. If the Colts put up that kind of yardage against the Saints, Colts wont be the losers, thats pretty much a guarantee.

All I know is that the Bears need to trade Jay Cutler for Derelle Revis, the hell with Favre.

But that's the thing. 51 yards away, as the crow flies, and he makes a bone headed throw, which he has done, time and time again.

Who cares what happened up until that point. That was the game winner, and he blew it. That's all that matters. And no, throwing across your body is not a routine play that any QB in the NFL makes. If it was a straight drop back pass, slant route or something, I would agree. But rolling right and throwing left is not routine.

They had the chance to win it, he threw a terrible pass, and they lost.

Favre gives me action in the pants. He is an "old school", tough guy QB who everyone should enjoy watching simply because you won't see many like him in your lifetime.

The guy has absolutely no fear. It is the reason why he has so many wins and also so many int's. If you take a long hard look at it, the guy will always try to win games. His best two seasons by the numbers were his last season in Green Bay when the Packers established a solid run game with Ryan Grant and threw short and quick passes and had a solid defense in a 13-3 season. Alot of people point to the bad pass in OT but at that point the pressure was on Favre to make a play. Fast forward to this season and he had a solid defense and what was a good but not great run game. He made two bad passes in the NFC title game because the rest of his team was flopping under the pressure. Adrian Peterson, Percy Harvin and Berrian kept putting the ball on the ground and the Vikings defense had several oppurtunities to make plays with Griffin, Lieber and Johnson all dropping Int's. Three fumbles inside the ten yard line, two in our red zone and one gift to the Saints in their red zone. Add to that the dunderheaded 12 men in the huddle penalty which pushed the Vikes to the very end of the limit of FG range and all the pressure got put on Favre to be the only guy to make a play for his team which is where he tends to get in some trouble. The guy was simply amazing for 99% of the season. The Vikings WR's don't exactly get seperation (Harvin does at times) and Favre threaded the needle all season long. Sidney Rice is almost never open but Favre trusts in him to make a play on the ball. If it had been T Jack or Sage this season the best the Vikes could have hoped for was a wildcard and a bad first round playoff loss at AZ or Dallas. I hope he comes back

Also, the something about Mary II was a joke.
