We had to do something Evil. We really screwed our builds this year and I think they are just now coming around to where we can be competitive. Doesn't hurt to have a pro leading you on offense though, he has really come through for us.

Seems a lot of teams choked today with a lot on the line. Playoff scenario just got really interesting.

No need to beat around the bush. Go ahead and call the DSBM out. Lesson to me (the expensive one) and to anyone else willing to listen (at a much lower cost) -- DO NOT (for any reason) think you can take a game off in Gold and use it as a scrim to test plays! It will bite you in the rear!

Has a team ever won with this few offensive yards?

112 yards for those who don't want to look.

Enasty posted one where the winning team was held to negative yardage on Offense.

You guys played well, no doubt. I just decided to break the game down into segments and run certain play packages to see how they would work and how it would effect morale on you guys. We went power game early (thus the 10 minute drive that ended in zero points) and then went to the air. As I looked at the game, I saw this over the first and second quarter.

Cows: 3 and out
DSBM: 56.6 yard 10 minute drive stopped at the goal line.
Cows: 3 and out
DSBM: 4 and out inside 20 (still trying to figure out how the 4th down play wasn't a first down: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=964280&pbp_id=16656037)
Cows: 3 and out
DSBM: Big punt return and TD 2 plays later.
Cows: 3 and out
DSBM: 4:30 drive ending in FG
Cows: 3 minute drive with one first down then punt
DSBM: Punt return TD making it 17-0.

At that point, the DSBM had controlled the game and one would think morale for Cows would be bad, etc. Guess not. Of course 61 yard rushes have a way to reverse that.
Cows: 1st play -- 61 yard rushing TD
DSBM: 2:40 drive stopped at the 4 on 4th down 1 second before halftime.

2nd half

DSBM opens with penalty and then goes 3 and out but gets a 51 yard punt pinning Cows at their 4.5. One would think that's another crushing blow to morale.
Cows: 2.5 yard gain and then 93 yard TD run.

After that, it seemed our morale was crushed as we stalled on drives, had false starts, etc. I don't know if I'll ever understand how morale works in the SIM. Great win for you guys nonetheless. You stopped us even when we finally went back to a normal set late in the game.

I wasn't trying to disrespect you guys in any way by my statement, and I know we don't have the most talented roster in Pee Wee Gold and we never will. But if you over look us or take us lightly, we can still beat anyone. Thats what I strive for in this game more than anything else. Make every single team respect us, or get beaten.

No disrespect taken. Everyone in gold is solid and can win on practically any SIM. Trust me, we didn't take the game off. I still loaded up solid plays and plays we run often. I just rearranged the timing of when they run. I wanted to see what would happen if we pounded the ball early and then tried to spread it outside and all around. Obviously it wasn't a good strategy and backfired. We had several chances to score and win the game anyway, but couldn't get it done. I was just posting the summary above for the morale issue. I've been trying to figure it out for a while now, and can't make heads or tails of it. One would think that a team having a 10 minute drive would crush morale for the other team, but I guess not. Like I said, good win for you guys and that'll teach me to do OAI testing during a regular game.

I did this last season during the year of the broken sim. In Q1 I ran 100% slams using speed or power.

Then if I ran power in Q1, I used speed in Q2.

Then I ran nothing but QB rollouts or sneaks in Q3.

Then I ran nothing but HB sweeps in Q4.

It didn't work that well. The best way to run your OAI is to have a specific package or type of play called for a certain % of the time given the specific situation.

I've thought about trying something like that. I do think that if a team had a lot of different defenses and had the auto-adjust pretty high that something like this might work. Make the auto-adjust call the plays that are stopping the slams you call all first half, and then suddenly go with something different.

I have several packages that I run, and I program them with %'s that I want based on the situation. I just completely built a new OAI for that game thinking we'd still be able to win and that it might show something about morale. I didn't even think about the auto-adjust angle Ping brought up. Either way, it didn't work, and I learned something at least.
