As slappdogg mentioned those are all things Mike did. Mike was also very involved in his local community (in England) helping to keep local youth out of gangs and what not. He also worked as a bouncer in a local club. One night as he was working in the club a fight broke out and as Mike was trying to break it up he got beaten up pretty badly and was in the hospital for a long time. He lost a lot of the sight in his eyes and had some trouble with his motor skills (the reason he doesn't play GLB anymore). During the short time he was in GLB he did more for the game than any tester or mod/admin since. He worked behind the scenes with a number of teams on different things and with Bort to help implement new game features.

Zickzack knows probly even more about this than I do, and feel free to correct me if any of that is wrong.

I think I know the guy in real life actually. Sad story. Didnt know it was the Mike Rogers off here as I was not involved with the game high up way back then.

slapdog and Joebarber already pretty much said most important things about Mike, he was one of the early very active people in WEPL, added a lot of topics and activity to the WEPL forum, was always ready to help anyone who asked, was heavily involved in the early testing and added plenty of suggestions in regards to the development of the game. Following the assault he was in hospital for a long time and at first seemed to recover reasonably well considering the severity of his injuries. Unfortunately he suffered several setbacks later on, and although the latest we have heard he is the he is live he apparently could no longer be online for any extended period and hence no longer could come to GLB.

Back when the idea of special conference names came up we had pretty much agreed that Alpha should be named after him, and I feel his contributions to WEPL and GLB alone would warrant naming the trophy after him, the sad story behind it only adds to the appeal of that idea for me.

Guy is from London area of course and was a huge Millwall fan if that helps to confirm if you know him.

i dont think i knew him personally, but i knew of him being from south london myself and my uncle being involved with the london olympians back in the day

Can you tell me what the point would be? This has been attempted 5 or more times already, and nothing ever came out of it, no matter how many peopel got involved. I pretty much see this as being dead in the water.

the thread linked is more organized then any prior attempt at this. If each reason would come up with some trophies I can see this getting implemented. This region is one of the lazy ones

This has nothing to do with being lazy. There have been countless active threads in regards to changing even the name of the trophy although a consensus was reached several times. I reckon most of us just have given up putting an effort in at this point.
