Ball hawk is a must for all SSs.
Entirely depending on the zones you play, zone specialist can be very good for either discipline.
For example, for one of the teams I DC'd I set the SS to a zone on the strong side deep from beginning next to CB3 so he ran virtually alongside the WRs as they ran their route, zone spec in this case isn't that helpful because the importance lies in keeping pressure on the WRs so they aren't targeted. However, if you're putting the SS for example close to the line on the weak side and having him run to a mid-field deep zone to prevent HB or inside slant WR routes then you want zone spec to compensate for the distance he has to run (and of course high vision so he knows whether or not to stop his pursuit of his zone and make a tackle off the line)
You should really ask your DC
Agreed.

Power Tackler is terrible most the time. Especially for what most consider "hard hitters". Helmet Crash would probably yield better team results. Power tackler is mostly useless unless you really invest your build around forcing fumbles. VAs like that don't make mediocre builds fumble machines, however they can help put a dedicated build over the top

I've got a LB heading that way, but as a safety I personaly think it's too risky.

What's a good 3rd VA for a coverage SS? Currently has Zone SP and BallHawk maxed.
Also, anyone else thin BallHawk is kind of a waste besides me? I just don't see the results from that VA

I recently reduced my count in ball hawk due to raising SDC and no longer requiring it.

was gonna start a new thread, but i'l just ask here
how does zone specialist work on running plays? when does it deactivate? when the safety realizes its a run?

As soon as the ball is handed to the runner and the runner initiates the rush the bonus deactivates.

It does help the safety react to the run sooner and read the play. As soon as he does react and read the play the bonus goes away so it's basically just a vision boost to read the run initially
