The obvious answer is by build, but what about guys with hidden builds?

I've been using (PD+INT)/TKL. I consider anything 1 or above to be elite.

However, that formula shortchanges those who get a lot of special teams tackles and tackles on running plays. Additionally, it doesn't take the whole Aggressive I-get-more-picks-but-miss-3-tackles-per-game thing into account either.

I've thought about grading on the basis of whoever has the fewest balls thrown their way, but that leaves room for error too. If a CB plays on a dominant team, he's still going to get thrown at a decent amount because the AI for the losing team is trying to mount a comeback.

So...how do you grade corners?

that is a stupid formula. What if the CB is very good at playing the run? What if he plays mainly in zone and is making lots of tackles against the run.

This is another reason GLB needs to make a Yards Against stat for the CBs

Do you mean anything above 1?

Yep. Lemme go back and edit that.

Consider me elite.

Dude. Did you even read what I posted? I posted the formula and then the shortcomings of the formula, which included but were not limited to those very things you mentioned. Instead of blasting my formula, how about you tell me how you grade CBs.

I always have, FT, always have, lol.

Seriously, my edited formula would not consider you elite. However, your game film shows you play better than those stats indicate, which is further proof that the formula would need some work. (Probably too much work to really make it useful). Yours is the only CB in WE AAA 2 that I ever keep tabs on.

Lets just say catches allowed agianst passes attempted on for M2M. Not sure on the zone coverage type CB but catches can still not be their fault.

yes same here. last season i had the second most team tackles and i was the fifth string cb.i could only get tackles from low pt does that mean my cb was bad? no, a cb is near impossible to grade.

I've found the best way to tell a good CB is by his reputation. I've got a WR and a CB and when you're WR consistently comes away with at least 5 receptions a game and then one game just has nothing... you're like, ok someones got an awesome CB. Even if that CB that was covering you the whole game had no stats, its just cause he was laying down his coverage so well and the ball never got thrown your way. I know in our league as the season went on you could tell just from word of mouth who the best CBs out there were.

the best way to grade a CB is to....

watch him play. just over half of my CB's tackles this season were against the run. there were two games where we played amazing passing teams and he had a bunch of catches-against in man. a lot of the others were zone where the nickelback's WR caught it and my guy was faster to get over and make the tackle.

there was a game where a CB on our team got 2 picks, 8 tackles and 5 PDs..... but got scorched for 2 50+ yard TDs. that doesn't show up on the stat sheet and it never will. IIRC, there is no such stat in the NFL, is there?

stats are a bad way to judge a CB.

For my team, I go watch the games and compile a stat sheet of my own comprised of how many times each was thrown at, and how many of those were completed, inc, dropped, etc. It give a much more accurate account of the ability.

As far as what to look at. I think it is really hard to judge based on the stats given by the game. I know in our last game, our two starting corners stats were almost non-existent because we shut down their WR's, but that doesn't show up in the stats.
