Bort's problem is how to deal with height/Weight

Allowing players certain amount of SPs to spend how they want is all good and well but he can't just let everyone choose their own height and weight, so we need to provide a GOOD idea on how to vary the Height and Weight of a player.

Let's see what we can come up with.

Post them here and I am sure Darkus will deliver any good ideas to Bort.

What is wrong with the way its done now.I get about what I am looking for 90% of the time and it works. Why are you lobbying to change this now.

I am not the only one, there are tons of people, I believe it is even in Epic.

Bort even likes it.

Rolling is a horrible drain on the server, some people roll their player for 2 days.(I have rolled one for 3 before)

When you are trying to get JUST THE RIGHT ROLL, it takes hours and hours.

Not everyone has low player standards as you do, for example when i roll a center, I roll for a minimum of 28 strength. This has taken me 19 hours of server strain.

I ask a simple question and you insult me by saying my low standards.I roll for what works and what I like.I guess I am not such a server hog as you nor an arrogant a$$.

lighten up man, if your rolls take short amount of time than you are not rolling to max atributes is all I meant.

I apologize MV thunder for being an A$$

I have a tiered idea for height/weight issues. I'll use WRs as an example:

Every position gets 15 total Size Points to assign, as well as three Body Types to choose from (a 6'3", 208 lb Big WR would cost 15 size points)

Big (physical) WR - bonus to higher strength, breaks more tackles, less initial speed
Size range: 6'1" - 6'5"
Weight Range: 195 lb - 215 lb

Average WR - no bonuses
Size Range: 5'10" - 6'2"
Weight Range: 180 lb - 200 lb

Agile (return specialist) WR - bonus to higher agility, less initial strength, breaks fewer tackles
Size Range: 5'8" - 6'0"
Weight Range: 170 lb - 190 lb

So first you'd get the option to chose your body type (each position would have similar options for body types). Then you get a set amount of points to apply to skills/attributes (instead of rolling). Each player starts at 8 in each stat. This is where the bonuses come in (no player gets a speed bonus, regardless of position).
The Big WR build would start at 11 for strength, 5 for speed. The Agile WR build would start at 11 agility, 5 strength. The Average WR would have no bonuses or losses (all stats at 8). The auto-level gains would also differ depending on body type (Big WR would get more auto-level points in strength, less in speed).
Also, the level Caps for Speed, Agility, Strength, and Carrying would differ among the builds. First Speed Cap for a Big WR would be 40, as opposed to 48 for the other two builds, but the first Cap for Strength and Carrying would be 55. The first Strength cap for the Agile WR would be 40, but he would also have the higher Agility cap.

This also wouldn't eliminate specialization in Pee Wee's (since you'd still have to build for a certain purpose at first), and gives a lot of options for different sizes and play-types.

This is more work than is needed imho

To keep things simple, would it be possible to Bort to only hide the height/weight stats while the player is in creation process until the season starts ? I doubt that people will retire and re-create their players once the season is started.

I like the tiered body type influencing the initial skill points, but my understanding was that bort just needs to figure out height and weight. This still doesn't fix that because there still will need to be a roll to determine where in the height and weight ranges the player falls.

Upon creation each player is given 30 Body Points to spend along with their Skill Points.

Each position starts with a baseline body type and the agent can spend 1 BP to adjust 1 lb +/- and they can spend 10 BPs to adjust 1 inch +/-

The numbers will need to be adjusted of course

You go and you make a new player...you enter in the attributes under BORT's new planned system. You hit submit and your flex is spent. Then it takes you to the next screen where 3-5 randomized height/weight combos are generated you you get to choose which one you'd like.

Granted, people who don't like their options can retire and start over, but A)that's pretty tedious so not as many people would do it, and B)I don't think someone can create a script for doing this, thus saving server capacity.

i love the idea that you start with min ht/wt, and during the "roll" process, they change as you apply the initial 15 SPs. even better, this would effectively kill SB unless you wanted to play your whole career at min ht/wt. and by min, i do mean much smaller than the current range.

oline/dline starts out at 5'3/200 pounds. adding 1 SP to strength get 1 in/10 lbs
wr and secondary, 5'6/150lbs adding 1 SP to strength adds 1in/10lbs, 1 SP to agility/speed adds 1 inch,
FB 5'6/200 lbs, 1 SP in strength adds 1 in/5 lbs, 1 SP to blocking only adds 1 in.
QB 5'8/170, 1 SP in throwing adds 1 in, 1 SP in strength adds 1 in/10 lbs

etc

Currently your flex is spent once you give the guy a name and a position so that wouldn't need to change.

I suspect a script could be written to automate retiring and starting over and if it exists people will use it.

Make it so you spend SPs on height and weight just like the other attributes. That way you either have a great build with no skills to start, or you have a crappy build but you have a head start on the skills. You'd have to either balance it out or decide if you're building for the short term (pee wee) or the long term (pros).

Similar to this:

The most important attributes are already determined for auto-leveling, so it wouldn't be too hard to code. Besides the base of 8 in all attributes, there should be a point system, like counting cards. Every SP past that base 8 in a major category (IE Strength, blocking, agility for lineman) is .5 and every minor category is one.

For example, I don't even know if I'm doing this right, but a guard has major categories in strength, blocking, and confidence and minors in stamina, agility, and vision (forgive me if I miss anything). He rolls a 18/17/16/10/11/11 respectively, with all other extra XP in unimportant skills. This amounts to (18-8)(.5) + (17-8)(.5) + (16-8)(.5) + (10-8)(1) + (11-8)(1) + (11-8)(1) = 21.5

There will be a base height and weight for each position, lets say 6'5", 330 for a guard. Then, with this number, the roller can elect to subtract these points how he chooses. Each pound loss would be .4 and each inch of height, 4.

So, back to my example, With 21.5 I could choose to do anything from making him 6'5", 276 or 6'0", 330.

I chose to make minor skills 1 and majors .5 because most extra SP (after the original 8) are distributed to major skills, especially when using the re-roller. I assume this idea will be shot down rather rapidly and marked off as unclear, but I thought it was a legit solution. PM me if you have any questions, because I can't really explain it too well with a migraine.

We need to make our players to the height and weight as we see fit. This is a game and we need to build or recruit as I need to fit my team !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
