Nothing to jump up and down about, but not bad considering the amount of plays he is getting. 72 agility and 62 speed. Going to work on getting better advanced eq and more speed for next season.

He's also playing in a 34-cap league with 7 100+ point victories. Hard to tell how good he actually is.

adding 10 blitz to that doesn't help either.

How to get sacks as a DT:

-Make sure your Strength and Agility are both over 100.
-Speed should be 75+
-Vision should be no less than 60.
-15 Heavyweight, 15 Jump the Snap, 15 Pass Rusher
-Play in AA or below

Only way to get sacks as a DT is going to be lame blitzes that leave you unblocked until Bort makes it easier to win 1 on 1 battles.

Disagree on a few points.

Strength: 80 is fine
Agility: Better than 120 imo
Speed: 90 or better
Agree on VAs.
2 Break Block % pieces

80 is fine (Although I prefer 90s strength) as long as you can get your DC to not line you up over the C which a lot of DCs seem to like to do with a DT.

Lining up a DT directly across from an O-lineman breaks basic defensive principles - you always line up in gaps! I've never played football and I know that...

Lame DCs aside, most of the time in the NFL DTs don't get sacks without blitzes to confuse the line or the secondary just shuts everything down. It's because they are the easiest to double team (making things easier for the other D-linemen and any blitzers). There is only 1 DT in the NFL on pace to rack up double digit sacks in the regular season and 3 more with an outside chance of doing the same. In contrast, the linebackers (regular blitzers in many 3-4 schemes) have 5 players on pace for a double-digit sack season and 1 with a reasonable outside chance. Everybody else in the top 39 sack list are DEs, and there's no reason to go beyond the top 39 because everyone else has 3.5 sacks or fewer. Getting a sack is supposed to be tough in the pros. It is considered a great play when a DT gets a QB hurry - as it should be.

Get real?

My DT has 100 tackles already this season. I'm happy.

I realize things have probably swung back too far the other way in balancing from what I've read, but why is it people are expecting to build 15-sack DTs in the first place? Just curious.

Because there are guys like A. Haynesworth, Kevin Williams, Shaun Rogers, Anthony Hargrove, etc... who are very good pass rushers in the NFL. So, there should be the opportunity to build that type of player here if you know what you're doing.

Depends completely on the system. There are systems that prefer to line DTs head up on the OGs or one head up on the C and a second in a gap.

While this is true, about 40% of the NFL plays out of a base 3-4. Many times their DEs are built like a DT in a 4-3. For instance Darnell Docket and Trevor Pryce were both excellent pass rushing 4-3 DTs who are now playing DE in a 3-4.

There are multiple defensive systems in the NFL they utilize different personnel types. Because of the auto leveling system of GLB, teams are better served to play out of a 4-3 than a 3-4 because of the auto level gain advantages that DTs have over LBs. This means they need to get pass rush primarily from a 4 man line rather than a 3 man line and changing up the blitzing LB. A much larger % of teams are built around a Minnesota Viking type defensive system in GLB than you would see in the NFL or college levels.

Don't forget Jay Ratliff.
