I think you are right Gerr. We learned a lot our first season playing some very good teams in old League 19 in particular New Orleans. It would be a lot harder for a new team to improve quickly because you wont play many good opponents in copper since good teams mostly advanced already. You should also think about watching games of some of the top teams. My defence vastly improved two seasons back by spending a couple hours with a notebook watching Short Bus games. Once you sit there figuring out why his players are moving the way they are, you can get how to create your own.

Why is everyone always so hi and mighty over scrimmaging lower teams that want to test themselves. Granted Gold teams have nothing to gain from beating a copper team so I'm glad guys like LE and TT will give them a shot. I would if I had time to game plan for extra games... which I don't.
Dont get me wrong if I owned a peewee team I would scrimmage him. He can send the Austin Rattlesnakes a scrim if he wants but that's the only team I am coaching for this season and they are in copper. I was just being blunt and honest. Most gold teams have already bit off more than they can chew and coach multiple teams that are in multiple tourneys. Playing the best is the only way to get better though that's the truth.

Hmm, didn't think of that, but good idea, I think I will do that, thanks!

Here's a better way to weasel a scrim out of a gold team (and a play off of montana's suggestion), offer yourself as a scout/ lolgm/ towelboy/ 'alterboy'/ ANYTHING'for a team here, do your job and I'm sure you'd get a nice late season scrim. Not only that but you'd also get all of Montana's suggestion PLUS as a GM you quite possibly will know these player's stats anyway! Be Larry Fitzgerald on the Vikings. Nothing like on the job xp.

Hey, I don't think the Pugs' 2 OC's OC. Actually, I don't think anyone OC's in Gold this season. Seriously what can we do? Slam, slam, sweep, off tackle, slam, sweep, sweep, slam...3rd and long so let's try to complete a pass for -2 yards now.

Yeah, but some people don't like adding GMs that they don't know. I know lots of owners that have been burned by allowing agents on to their teams and then having them give away team secrets, builds, tactics, etc.

Thunder ruined this awhile back when he posted his pee-wee build guide anyway.. way to go J!
In the end it made for better competition which is now insanely tough but I do wish people had to learn the ropes the hard way. I have tons of owners on my team though and my build guides are open for all to see and I've shared them with whomever and whenever. At the end of the day it still comes down to the actual AI and game planning. Is it a bit one more dimensional this season? Of course. Which means game planning is more important then ever as you may only have 3-4 different plays you can use effectively each game.

After all the talk about how my Copper league team couldn't compete against a Gold league team, I will say that was a very close game...
http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=880988
And I didn't do any scouting, just used my general settings, nothing team specific.
I got exactly what I wanted from this game, I got to see what was working and what needed improvement and/or change against a good team. Main change was I learned that it's not a good idea to stack my SS on top of my LOLB as the TE was able to block both of them and that allowed several long outside runs, including the one that setup that late go-ahead TD. Amazing how a little detail like that changed the complexion of the game.
Now just imagine my team next season with a properly staffed team, tweaked templates, and refined tactics. I should be a lot better.
