Yes kicker for a punter and its not his fault. I told him early season we didnt hire a punter for a reason and to not worry about the punting, just make field goals when we need them. He has 9 pts in punting

We should be allowed to adjust our punt formations. Like, spread it out like some teams do to not let guys get to the outside.

If they didnt return it for a TD they sure as hell got the ball close enough to score. Since then Short Bus has not punted and that word is banned on our forums.

Wow.

A rugby punt is called a drop kick in American Football. Its not even used in the NFL anymore, but I understand the CFL still uses it.

Actually they're calling the new "to-the-side" almost rushed looking punt a "rugby punt" now. You're referring to more of a drop kick when you talk about a real rugby punt.

This. I've seen it becoming very popular in college and pro teams use it to primarily kick it away from someone or out of bounds.

I don't understand why GLB doesn't give punters the option to aim for the sidelines. It's a simple enough concept

is this what we'd call a torpedo? so the kick spirals and goes further... or is it more slicing the ball?

From what I know there are two things I've heard/seen referred to as a rugby punt or drop punt,

One I've actually seen used this season by some college teams, and that's the kick from the side.

The other is when the guy actually lets the ball bounce on the ground and then kicks it on the rebound. This one I have not seen in recent years.

And to the person who asked for GLB punters to be able to angle it to the sides, they can. You just can't tell them when to do it.

I'm still a fan of punting. A good punter and a good punt coverage team and things work out ok. We've had a few occasions where it didn't get us many net yards, but it works out more often than it doesn't.

I just mean I wish the option was available. Like an actual "coffin corner" rating. It would have to be affected by Vision or Confidence in order to be really successful, but it should still be a controllable option. The negative effect would be that you'd run the risk of shanking the punt and it only going 5-10 yards. Of course, right now that seems to be the net punting average now anyway, so it's not such a bad penalty.
