No, a decent DC is going to have a 95-100 speed MLB that can contribute to both the run and pass defense.

But not do either particularly well compared to a specialist.

*Buzzer* Incorrect.

While on the subject of MLBs, does anyone care about Defense General?

So a LB with his attributes spread thin over many areas and with half pass defense SAs, pass defense VAs, etc... is going to defend the run as effectively as a LB with a focused run defense build?

Huh?

No, of course a specialist will be better at his 1 job but a balanced MLB can do quite well. My MLB is very effective vs. both the run and pass in USA Pro.

I'd like to see your 70-80 speed MLB do shit against Dooley on a pitch/screen.

Unless you want a player whose only purpose is to stop a dive...then I just lol.

Okay, so you agree with me. Edit your post and un-buzz what I said then.

Screens shouldn't scare you in the current game. The screen nerf just makes specialist MLBs look better. A specialist hitter-type MLB shouldn't be your answer to plays outside anyway.

If a DC knows what the hell he is doing your MLBs do not need more than 80 speed period.

No kidding. I've been on plenty of teams that lack a strong, high-tackling MLB build... It's a major weakness that can be exploited.

But defensive specialists are often asking for trouble.
