The next one who finally accepted to talk with our host is the GM of the Ketchikan Kamper Adventure Rentals and creator of the Kamper Kampfire, Track6Track7!

Larry: Hi Track! It has been a long time no see! How is it going?

Track: Pretty good. I'm trying to find out why some admin I've never heard of banned me from the forums for a day. This may come as a shock to you, Larry, but this is the first time I've ever been banned, so I'm taking it pretty rough. Apparently I was "harassing other users", but I don't remember harassing anyone. I'm seeking clarification on the matter right now, but judging from my inquiries to support on WSI, they'll get back to me in about a week. They probably have me confused with Merc or something, he's constantly harassing people.

Larry: How do you feel now that we are in the preseason?

Track: Anxious, really. We have some pretty good momentum right now which we turned into what I think is a stellar recruiting class, and we're a season older and wiser as players and coaches. So I feel good about the upcoming season, but I felt good going into Season 8, and we ended up on the wrong end of about 5,000 Strong I-slams to finish 6-10, so that's always going to be in the back of my mind. I'm ready to get our imaginary dots onto the imaginary dot field and get rid of the preseason jitters.

Larry: You had a good season last year, how do you explain your success?

Track: Great agents with great players. I know that sounds like some gay PR answer, but that's the most sincere thing I've ever said on these forums. We've ended up with a shitload of knowledgeable, friendly, and fun people associated with our team over the seasons that crank out great players and strategy. I remember getting forum access to the Rebel Yell when they gutted, and maybe I was naive about what goes on on other teams, but I was just shocked at some of the infighting and stuff that was going on with a couple of the marketplace agents they had recently brought in, because it's never been like that with Ketchikan. Our agents do 99% of the work, we kinda just line everyone up and hand out equipment and oranges for after the game.

Larry: Now, I know you guys since you began in GLB, but for those who dont know you, what is the history of your team and the story about the creation of the Kamper Kampfire?

Track: Merc got this team in USA A5 at the start of season two, my player, Quentin Compson, was created and signed on day 1 of season two and started at CB as a level 1 two hours later. We were scrambling to fill out a roster during the first half of the season while insane teams like the invincible level 7 NY-CA Ground Pounders were kicking ass and taking names. We found our sea-legs for the second half of the season and pulled off some big upsets to get in the playoffs, then somehow advanced from the six seed to the conference championship game against the aforementioned 18-0 Ground Pounders, who had beat us 49-10 in the regular season and were steamrolling everyone. We lost 13-3 (http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=36820), but for us to go up a team of their caliber and not blink really gave us an indication that we could be successful at this game. That's still my favorite game Ketchikan has ever played.

I wish I could say there was some noble purpose behind the Kampfire, but we're basically just goofing on power rankings and people who take them seriously. It was in part making fun of Sportscenter, Larry, you and the gang would always talk about our wins as "upsets" like you were surprised we could beat anyone, so we would do stuff like moving the two-win slow-build team we were playing that week to number 1 in the Kampfire and then crow about how we pulled off another "shocking upset" after we beat them. Stuff like that, it just sort of evolved into something semi-legitimate after I got lazy about trolling.

Larry: Right now, who was for you the most valuable guy on your team last season? And dont say Dravz only, I know he was great!

Track: I think you answered your own question. We probably would have ended up the 5-11 everyone was picking us without some of the plays Dravz made. That's a tough question to answer, every single player on our team contributed as much or more than we asked of them. Having said that, we asked more of some players than others, and I think I'd probably have to go with our defensive coach on the field, MLB Igor Rakmanov, who was second in the league in tackles and led the league in INTs. Other guys I'd mention would be WR Umgwana Kickbooti, who had a 1,000 yard season when we were throwing to ten different guys, FS Jim Naples has been insane for several years now and was in the Western Conference MVP race for most of the season, CB Gaston DeFaille has been huge for us since coming over from Moose Jaw in Canada Pro, and the kicker, Money in the Bank, was just that. I'm leaving a lot of people out, but these guys really have to mentioned in all fairness.

Larry; How do you approach this 11th season in GLB?

Track: Keep the good stuff, replace the bad stuff with good stuff. Also, try to keep Merc, Ladyzman, and our OC, Tyrone Shoelaces out of jail or from getting stabbed by their Facebook stalkers any more, I'll do my thing when the baby is sleeping. Also, we've developed a dysfunctional game-day scouting/gameplanning ritual of our very own that I'm not really at liberty to discuss, but man it gets the imaginary dots fired up when they learn their assigments! Hungry group of dots that would run though a wall if you ask them to...

Larry: BTW, what happened with Gob Gudpuff, he was my favorite player for a long time?

Track: We don't really know. He went inactive soon after the great DE nerf, and we kept him on the team for a long time hoping he would come back someday, but he never did. He was a hell of a DE though, I think islander1 or somebody was making fun of me because I said I had never used a blitz before we got to AAA2, and I said, "You don't understand, we had Gob. We didn't have to blitz."

Larry: Time for a quick prediction: Who has the most chances to win the USAPL crown this season?

Track:Mighthawks are going 20-0. If they start sandbagging again though, on paper, you'd have to think it would be the Wolfpack. This is going to come off blunter than I mean it, but they're going to have to prove that they can avoid losing playoff games they have no business losing though. There are probably six teams in the East that could realistically win their conference, but I'd feel pretty safe picking the Wolfpack as a lock for the regular season West title (again, assuming the Mighthawks sandbag.) Anything can happen in the playoffs though.

Larry: Well, it is time folks, thanks Track for coming here, it was a pleasure having you as our guest and good luck for the season to come!

Track: Larry, surprisingly, I had fun as well. I'd still hate for you to think everyone was cool now, though; I'd stay away from Ketchikan, Alaska unless you want to get pelted with salmon.

Larry: Last question before I forget, will we see new episodes of the Kampfire this season?

Track: There will always be Kampfires as long as I enjoy doing them, and probably even after that if it's still getting us recruits. You're laughing, Larry, and I'm serious as a heart attack. You have such an advantage in recruiting if you have a team that people know for whatever reason, and I know our forum presence has actually got several players to join us over the years. Merc's an aspiring stand-up comedian, we have a TV writer on our team, so that's what we're going for with our public personas; posting stuff that shows our personalities and sense of humor and why we might be a good group of people to join up with for like-minded agents looking for a team. Thanks for having me on the show Larry, I'm out, bitches.

The next one who gladly accepted to talk with our host is the owner of the Alpine Golfers, cavalier!

Larry: Hi Cavalier! How is it going?

Cavalier: Very well sir, and thanks for having me again on SportsCenter Pat. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your contribution to USA Pro, it is great to have someone that makes the forums interesting to read. I hope we get your weekly SportsCenter reports during the season like we had in AAA2 a few seasons ago?

Larry: How do you feel now that we are in the preseason?

Cavalier: Alpine has just gone through the busiest off-season in the team’s history adding approximately 20 new players. Both sides of the ball have been much improved and it is very interesting and exciting for me to see the new team in action. Last season we fortunately got Wessimo to take the offensive coordinator role again after I had been doing both the offense and defense myself for a number of seasons. I do think this pre-season is a lot more hectic for him as an OC than it is for me as a DC, with the new plays, packages, and most importantly the number of new weapons on offense that we have to learn how to take advantage of, and incorporate into the game plan.

I am happy with the first pre-season game we played against the Hounds. Of course, you cannot read anything into the score, but rather analyze it on a play-by-play basis and based on that I thought we looked pretty good. We got some interesting games coming up against Timpanogos, Lincoln and KKAR, unfortunately I will only get to watch the first one as I have to travel abroad with work on won’t return until a few games into the season.

Larry: You had a good season, how do you explain your success?

Cavalier: The season was a rather mixed experience and all in all a big disappointment for us to be honest. We started with a four game losing streak (only once before had we lost two regular season games back-to-back), then a pretty good stretch followed with a 10-2 record before we had one of the biggest disappointments in the team history in the playoffs where we lost to OFG after making the mother of all AI mistakes. We did learn a lesson though, and I hope others learn from it as well, since it is no fun losing or winning on mistakes: If you are trying something new in an important game, make sure you test it with a farm team first to see if works (I am not talking about execution of the plays here, but rather Bort’s coding that could be surprising to say the least. We had no idea that he has TE2 overriding the depth chart, while RB2 doesn’t)

Larry: Now, lets go back in time, what is the history of your team?

Cavalier: We started out in season 2 in USA BBB #14 and have since then won 139 games and lost 27. Season 10 was the first time we didn’t have a home playoff games at Mount Green. The most famous Golfer is without doubt Julius Dee, probably the most dominating individual player GLB has seen. He was a defense by himself recording 414 sacks for the Alpine Golfers and his #69 was retired upon his release this off-season.

Here's a good old fashion Julius Dee three and out:

Season ..3 ▬ 15 - 1 ▬ BBB #14 ▬ Championship loss to the San Diego Marauders
Season ..4 ▬ 16 - 0 ▬ A #7 ▬ Conference Semi Final loss to the Chicago Pterodactyls
Season ..5 ▬ 16 - 0 ▬ A #7 ▬ Championship loss to the Spicewood Longhorns
Season ..6 ▬ 15 - 1 ▬ AA #4 ▬ Champions
Season ..7 ▬ 13 - 3 ▬ AAA #2 ▬ Playoff round 1 loss to the Washington Slashers
Season ..8 ▬ 15 - 1 ▬ AAA #2 ▬ Championship loss to the NY-CA Ground Pounders
Season ..9 ▬ 11 - 5 ▬ Pro ▬ Playoff round 1 loss to the ***Official*** Footballguys
Season 10 ▬ 10 - 6 ▬ Pro ▬ Playoff round 1 loss to the ***Official*** Footballguys

Larry: Right now, who was for you the most valuable guy on your team last season?

Cavalier: The results of our team vote gave the following MVPs:

▸ Defensive MVP: #32 | Hank Strongberg | Free Safety
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=80574

▸ Offensive MVP: #26 | Running with the Devil | Running Back
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=605822

Larry: How do you approach this 11th season in GLB?

Cavalier: Season 11 will be a bit odd for us. We have the best team we have ever had and we should be among the very best in GLB. At the same time, I will have a few stretches with very limited time to GLB and our defense will definitely suffer from that. I am especially nervous for the first four games where I will be away and we are playing some great teams. I would not be surprised to see us start 0-4 again, but don’t count us out if that happens

Larry: Did CV said thanks concerning the fact that you gave them a future HOF power back in Larry Csonka some seasons ago?

Cavalier: That move worked out for the best for everyone. Larry got to a team that wasn’t embarrassed to run him 60 times a game and we got a spot for a better long term running back in Running with the Devil. We play this game for fun and abusing the I-slam, or one player, like MEM did is no fun to us, I would much rather lose than do that. When we had Larry we strived to keep him to a realistic number of carries. The first season he was here the number we aimed for was 30 carries per game, a number that was decreased to 20-25 the next season.

Larry: Time for a quick prediction: Who has the most chances to win the USAPL crown this season?

Cavalier: I hope, and believe, that the Washington Wolfpack will win USA Pro this season. It has been a long time since that franchise won a trophy and a new one is long overdue. Painmaker is a great guy and his team deserves the title.

Larry: Well, it is time folks, thanks Cavalier for coming here, it was a pleasure having you as our guest and good luck for the season to come!

Cavalier: Thanks for having me Pat, and thanks again for doing this!

The next one who gladly accepted to talk with our host is the owner of the Nashville Hounds and old Terminators agent (sorry, Ketchikan), wsdp!

Larry: Hi wsdp! How is it going?

Wsdp: Not to shabby, thanks for having me Larry.

Larry: How do you feel now that we are in the preseason?

Wsdp: A little burnt out. As the OC and lead recruiter, my offseason is the 8 day preseason yet with the level of gameplanning required to compete in USA Pro, I found myself doing a little scouting this afternoon. I got half way thru watching a game and couldn't concentrate anymore. I'm loving the prestige of USA Pro but missing the chance to be as lazy with the gameplans as I was the first 9 seasons.

Larry: You had a good season last year as a rookie in USAPL, how do you explain your success?

Wsdp: Endless hours of gameplanning. The "us against the world mentality" helped and a certain owner of a now demoted USA Pro team stirred the pot and helped me re-focus myself after 3 straight seasons of sitting back with the foot on cruise control. Our D.C. (ghuffman) came aboard midway thru Season 9 and led us on an awesome playoff run in USA AAA that ended with a promotion to Pro. He was an instrumental part of us making the jump. The shenanigans with the rookie "backdoor" hazing woke us up and after starting 0-3, I realized it was time to put in the gameplanning time the rest of our agents deserved. Finishing the regular season 11-2 and giving the Marauders a fight was a testament to a fantastic team effort from my other coordinators (especially ghuffman and our build guy & head coach ijg) and myself.

Larry: Now, lets go back in time, what is the history of your team?

Wsdp: I bought the Hounds when Bort created the USA B and C level teams midway thru Season 1. A couple of the agents that signed their players on to the CPU Hounds are still on board and I'm forever greatful they've stuck around as long as they have. USA BBB (where we started) was rebranded USA AA #2 after Season 1. We spent 5 seasons in that league and created a slew of great rivalries but one by one they gutted and thankfully the most active owners, gm's, and player agents brought their talent to the Hounds creating a veteran group of guys who were committed to paving our way to USA Pro. We won the gold in Season 5 and struggled in our S6 USA AAA 1 debut before finding our way and putting together the aforementioned late season push in Season 9 to "backdoor" our way into Season 10. I'm damn proud of the core group of our agents who have been around since Season 1, 2, and 3. I bought the CPU Nashville Hounds, kept the name for perseverance, and will maintain our namesake as long as I'm active on GLB.

Larry: Who was for you the most valuable guy on your team last season?

Wsdp: If "Guy" doesn't have to specify a player, then ijg would be my most valuable "guy". ijg is one of the five sharpest minds in GLB from build evaluation to defensive coordinating. He spends as many hours on here working on builds and DC schemes as any other GM I've ever come across. He worked hand in hand with ghuffman to create a sound defense and gave our offense enough opportunities to carry it's weight. If "Guy" specifies a player, RB Earl Maddox may have won USA Pro West offensive MVP and while that's all well and good, but none of it would have been possible without TE J.R. Carter who left more defensive guys on their backside than almost any other TE paving the way for our 3-headed RB crew.

Larry; How do you approach this 11th season in GLB?

Wsdp: The field looks easier with so many AAA promotions but we know full well that just because they're wet behind the ears doesn't mean they're any easier than many of the quality teams we faced last season. Our goal is to take the next step and improve on our 5-seed in the S10 playoffs and land a home playoff game. If we can make a few opposing coordinators sweat come playoff time, we'll be very happy.

Larry: You came to the league the same way Timpanogos did in the offseason, you have any word of advice for the Thunder fans?

Wsdp: If you're not spending an average of 3 hours a day or 6 hours on a game gameplanning on EACH side of the ball, you're going to be spending the second half of the season recruiting for S12 while hoping someone else guts or throws in the towel and takes the 15th seed to drop down.

Larry: Time for a quick prediction: Who has the best chance to win the USAPL crown this season?

Wsdp: The Wolfpack are the odds on favorites to win the West and I'd be shocked if they didn't. The East looks more up for grabs and if **O** or the Blaze fail to hold off Alpine, CCCC, and the likes, then an "upset" would be the end result.

Larry: Well, it is time folks, thanks Wsdp for coming here, it was a pleasure having you as our guest and good luck for the season to come!

Wsdp: Pleasure to join you Larry.

Well, IMO, they are definitely the top team returning in the West followed by MM. It's definitely theirs to lose. Can anyone play spoiler? Who knows.
