Pro is the new AAA

A lot of the best LDEs I've seen have higher strength than agility and perform really well, and I know some of the best agents build them that way. I'm sure your high agility would work, but I like higher strength personally.

actually the best D.E's I have seen have 120 agility. Plus they might not be happy if you're giving out their build secrets.

ssssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhh....

Well I don't get pancaked even with 75 strength. Rarely at all. I just don't get off the blocks on running plays.

Is that really a bad thing? I suppose it depends on the system. Occupying blocks is a key for linemen in a lot of defensive systems. Obviously that's more true of a tackle than an end. But at left end, if you're occupying a RT and TE on a run play, that's a good thing. Are the linebackers filling their gaps and making the plays?

Yeah I guess he does occupy pretty well. He got particularly dominated in our last game, but then again he was up against players 13 levels higher.

I have just seen replays of LDEs tearing things apart with broken blocks and rushing down the HB behind the line - I'd like to perform like that, as I think my build is solid enough to do that! I'll talk to my DC, if he's happy with me just occupying I can continue to do that.

---

Why all of the speed suggestions? 75 or 80 isn't going to make a huge difference, and in either case I'm 30 slower than any HB going around the outside anyway. Are these to stop the pitches if I can break off the block? I mean I get it, I just wonder why 80 has been suggested to me so many times when after a few more boosts natural gains will have me at 77 anyway.

I've got my 43 DE at 73.XX in strength, speed and agility ... and I still am not quite sure what to do with the EQ. He's always been a backup for my team, so I've never been able to test it right.

Yeah it's called high agility and 13 shed blocks

I like ~100 strength for my DE.
My DE is not particularly playing for stats, he is playing to win.
With 100 Strength I can take 2 players out of the run block equation when double teamed so the LB/SS can make the tackle.
With 100 Strength I can make a ROT use up energy he not used to using by him not being able to pancake me.
I also agree with the shortest distance to the QB in THRU or OVER the ROT.
I guess I just hate losing my feet when my job is to stay upright and fight.
The other 7 guys behind me want tackles also.
Also I would rather demoralize the O-line than vice-versa.

Screw teamwork, I want my stats! Oh, I own the team the player is on? Well crap, I'll still take his stats over the wins..

Nah thanks guys, I appreciate the advice. I feel I am a good builder but get lost with a lot of defensive mechanics because I have never even LOOKED at my defense AI since owning my team for 5 seasons now. There is a reason this was my first and last defensive player, lol.

An Idea ... I am not doing it, but have a LOLB/SS of your own play behind your Strong LDE.
Self serving maybe, but it will help the team also.

I'm at LDE and our RDE is literally so good at pass rushing I'm going to move toward run protection. I have two pieces of break through ready, but the best I'm able to do with equip will be 90 strength 100 agility. The reason is, I have a lot of agility tied up in my AEQ and custom.

I fear this is too weak to make an impact, and maybe I'd just be better off staying with 75 strength 115 agility?

My speed is also 75, if this matters.

What do you guys think??? With level 48 upgrades coming up with boosts, I'm looking to make my equipment decision this off season and stick to it.

Worst case I'd consider ditching my break through AEQ to get back on track with strength, I could get as high as 110 strength, 75 speed, 80 agility, but then I'd be out my break through pieces which I was growing very fond of.

IMO, switch up your EQ so you have:

Strength - 110+
Speed - 95+
Agility - 80+

Sucks you started making a R DE with all that Agility and now your switching to L DE... You wanna think about playing as the R DE's back up. If your stam is decent you can benefit more from this seeing as your already experienced in that position.

Unfortunately our team has 4 RDE builds which kinda hurts. Luckily all 4 are very very solid slowbuilds, and our LBs/DBs are so freaking good that we really aren't exploitable despite not having a strength based LDE

You don't need 90+ strength IMO. 80-85 is nice though. I would try one piece of EQ in strength and the rest in agility. See how that goes and proceed from there.
