Yeah, I saw that play, I think he's giving my D Coordinator headaches atm. He's a beast.

Before the season is over we're either gonna post a thread or have a WEPL Weekly issue about our special teams. Bubbles, Fung Tjong Peng, Jose and Jimmy Mash. MEGA superstars in my opinion, but hey I might be a little biased

I have been suggested by a certain person to throw a suggestion out bthere for next season. So here goes...

As the owners know the most about there own players, I think each owner should be allowed to nominate 3 Offensive and 3 Defensive players each. They are added to an owners list, then the owners vote in the same way as this year.

The ownbers board as a whole then choose Owner/GM/Special Team player and also the MVP's

Hell, it's basic, but it's an improvement on this seasons.

Having the team owners nominate outstanding players from their team sounds like the way to go. 5-6 would probably be a good number, with a few positional restrictions, eg. 2 linesmen, 2 non-linesmen, and 1-2 free choices, for both offense and defense. Otherwise it would run the risk of every team nominating the same big positions, and ending up with al all star team full of WRs, QBs and LBs or something silly like that. Or maybe 4 restricted offense/4 restricted defense/4 completely free choices.

Stats certainly don't tell the whole story, and going based on them is terrible. The owners and GMs ought to notice when they've got an OT who doesn't post many pancakes but hasn't let a DE get past, or a CB who only has 40 tackles because of his amazing coverage, or... well, you get the picture.

I agree your special teams is a very powerful force. Having a 40 yard return average in combination with a 50+ yard kicker is a beautiful thing for you guys. This pretty much means that you guys only need a little over two first downs to score points off a kick off. kudos's to that, you have my jealousy.

^Pretty much where I'm thinking buddy.

Just one thing though. "Otherwise it would run the risk of every team nominating the same big positions, and ending up with an all star team full of WRs, QBs and LBs or something silly like that." With the depth of all different players in this league, I'm sure different teams are stronger at different positions, so I'm sure there would be nominations for players that don't play in "big positions".

I'm sure that SOME players would be nominated for the 'smaller' positions too, but I really doubt the competition would be nearly as fierce, especially if it were limited to a smaller number like 3 nominations/team. I mean, if I were doing nominations for the Vikings, I'd go with our two big WRs, QB, and HB (Tote), since those are the players who have the most obvious contributions to our wins. Not to say that we don't have some respectable linesmen, it's just a lot harder to justify picking them unless you're specifically looking for em. It's less clear with defense; I just have a hunch that the O-Line would get shafted.

Anyways, still lots of time left to think about it.. next season's a ways away.
