No joke. Of all the positions in the game DT's are one of the ones who benefit the most from taking strength and agility as high as possible as quickly as possible. If you take strength to 74 right away you'll never have to touch it or put equipment in it again.

It is true, the original statement was pretty much wrong in every way.

basically 68str/74spd/74agil without level gains?

i wouldn't say that's general consensus at all, but it's one way to do it. you were asking for examples of people who had done it...turns out there's lots

At level 40 I plan to have 79 natural strength and agility and 78 natural speed on my DE.

DO not neglect Vision.
I would say get
agility to 60,
then speed to 48,
then agility to 68,
then speed to 60,
then vision to 48,
then speed to 68
then agility to 74
then strength/tackle 48
then speed to 74

EQ 85% in AGI, 15% in Speed

But remember you can alter you plans if ADV EQ comes along to make something more beneficail to your player, my DE had +3 Speed 5% force fumble, so I got strength/tackle up a little faster than I wanted, and added power tackle in VAs. So he has a 33% chance added to FF, which overall is more than he lost.

vision is something you can focus on way later. If you really want to get it go ahead, but you're hampering the maximum performance of your guy if you go to it early on.

maybe that's true but maybe the difference is not that significant. whereas a guy with 74 strength, agility, and speed, and 17 vision, is not going to perform very well.

at level 36 my DE has 82 Agility, and 74 Speed/Strength, all base.

Basically the best thing you can possibly do to start your build out is to take Speed straight to 77, then Agility to 77. By the time you finish Agility, you'll be looking at around 85spd/103agi if you have all of your EQ in Agility. That is DEADLY.

Exactly what I've been thinking, even down to the equipment.

can someone who is more clued up on the math, explain the longer term implications of taking speed to 68, then agility to 68 before taking speed to 77 and agility to 77?

i was thinking this is the way i am going with my DEs. just because i felt they would be more productive throughout their career then going speed 77 agility 77.

anyone?
