I think it will help. It's a bonus to the roll, and we don't know the numbers, but here is some of my logic.

Most players (let's say HBs) aim for certain target numbers of attributes and SAs. So there is an "average" number for a given break tackle roll for let's say power backs, and let's say without any SA firing. We'll say that number is 65. Then let's say the average when an SA kicks in is 75. The vast majority of rolls for break tackle, assuming a bell curve (standard) distribution (which imo is likely) will be within one standard deviation of 65. So two thirds of all break tackle rolls without an SA will be between 60 and 70.

Now let's look at Sizzler's LB. Say his roles are on average 60 with a standard deviation of 5. Since half of his rolls are under 60, he is going to miss a ton of tackles, half of five-sixths, or >40%.

An additional 10% make tackle piece however increases his average roll to 66. Now the likelihood of making a tackle is greatly increased, as long as no SA fires. I'm no statistics guy so I can't really tell you the odds, but it's probably more in the 15% range of missing a tackle, rather than 40%. This is a significant, meaningful bonus.

In his case, since strength and tackling are at acceptable levels and agility is only slightly low, a make tackle piece could set him above the average which drastically improves (imo) his chances of making an given tackle.

I would get a tackling piece, and increase agility. Monster hit imo counts as a tackling piece. It increases "tackle quality" which is a factor in the make tackle roll.

a normal distribution is a safe assumption because GLB deals with rolls. there's a couple problems, though.

only 68% of rolls are going to be within 1 standard deviation (approx). you can go up to 95% at 2 standard deviations and over 99% at 3.

the other problem is that you have no idea what your roll is normally or what an opponent's is. but, regardless of this, by increasing the mean of your rolls you give yourself a significantly better chance of tackling the opponent. as long as your mean roll isn't close to or higher than two standard deviations above the mean rolls of HBs (probably power HBs), a 10% increase is pretty substantial.

Any suggestions on what to do to reduce the number of missed tackles my MLB is getting?

Everyone knows about, and stresses the importance of strength and tackling, but they underestimate the importance of vision, and especially of agility in making tackles. My superhigh agility LB hasn't missed a tackle in over a season and a half now, playing on normal tackling, despite not having tackling softcapped yet at lvl 26.
