I'm building a guy with high strength but with high agility instead of speed. I'm interested to see how it turns out

In our DE test group there's a DE with 90 str, 70 spd, and 90 agi. Strong Base 10, Shed Block 10, Heavy Weight 15

He sets his DE to do combo rush.

While his total number of sacks is not great (23) but majority of his sacks are from power rushes (he even pancake a few OLs around the same level along the way)

So it seems to work minimally.

what level is he at to get those attributes? does he have TV?

im working on a DE and i want him to get to 100 AGI, 90 STR, and 75 SPD. i plan on working the Pass Rusher Tree, Shed Block and TV are my main focuses. does anyone think that would be a good pass rusher?

I have a level 59 De built like that and he has done squat for the last 3 seasons.

I will be retiring him so I don't care about sharing the build((not that it worked anyway!!))

He isn't working because he doesn't have ANY Heavyweight! If you put ONE piece of EQ into Speed, and the rest into Agility, getting Speed up to 82 or so...and give him 15 Heavyweight, Pass Rusher, and Jump the Snap...he'll be DEADLY.

I used 4 games with 15 pass rusher, 15 heavyweaight and 10 JTS and still never got a sack

Strength is GREAT in run support.

Hasn't done anything for this POS. I have seen him go against open build OT's with 60 (!!!!) points less in strength, and still not do anything.

thanks for the help guys. my guy is early enough in his career that I haven't ruined anything yet but I still want to make sure he is good. I guess I should shy away from Strength for a little while

Totally agree. I've had a strength based DE before and I'm building one again now. It's not even close to a glamor position and what he does won't show up in the stat sheet. . A good strength DE is the linebackers best friend because he keeps both the OT and the TE occupied and unable to get a second block. On some plays, he can even draw attention from the FB.

My DE is just starting to become useful against the run. He breaks most of the TE's attempted blocks, but still struggles with the RT. That should change when his Str hits the high 60's.

Have had no issues whatsoever with my strength based LDE (95 strength, 75 speed, 70 agility). Racked up 47 tackles this regular season which is what he's in for and rarely ran over an ROT for 5 sacks, 36 hurries. It's not exactly a highlight real position if done right but it can kill run games.

Would note that if I could up the speed/strength a little or the QB release was a little slower he'd have a lot more, he gets a regular open run at the QB but the ball goes as he closes in.

If you are going to neglect speed I can tell you already how it will turn out.

NOT
GOOD

Agree.

Agility dont do much for a DE it seems. Strength>Speed>Vision>agility.

He wasn't saying that at all. Agility is huge for DE's. He say simply saying that you shouldn't ignore speed because it's extremely important as well. I think vision is something that's important later on in a DE's development but not something you should worry about until at least your 30's.
