Didn't really do them justice... They were a different team the second half of the year. They started 3-4 and finished 8-1. If you just did a power ranking for the last 8 games they would be much higher. Additionally, the power rankings calculations assume the two halfs of the conference are approximately equal.. in my opinion they are not. I think that West was a far margin tougher to play against. Its a little difficult to gauge really, as the results of best measure we would have, the inter-conference games in week 16, were corrupted by teams playing second stringers. However, top to bottom, if you look at average player level among the starting 22 on each team, the West beats the east hands down.
Not saying that levels is king or anything, but after Farkistan Oakland is the highest average level of any remaining team... Even more so if you count the kickers (I didn't in doing my calculation)
In the end though, levels are NOT the final indicator. Look at the Penguins, their average player level amongst their starters is greater even than the Squirrels, so it really is subjective. Certain positions certainly matter more than others. Game planning matters, depth matters, even luck... matters. In the end its simply from watching tape on all the teams in the conference, and again, I'm sure I'm biased, but Oakland scares me more than either team from the east. Not saying they are better, just that our specific strengths match up better against those two teams than Oakland.
--------
I know I'm biased, but Farkistan has to be the favorite to win it all at this point. Not saying we are a lock or anything, four very solid teams remain. I think we are the favorites. After us, I think Oakland is just as good as either team from the East.
I really feel its pretty much anyones game at this point. I think we have an edge, but not a large one, and it wouldn't damage my pride to lose to any of the other three teams remaining.
I respect your decision, however, I am going to have to disagree. I can not argue stats, and Farkistan is probably the closest thing to a lock when it comes to the championship. When you talk about the second half of the season though yes they are hot but it takes more than 9 games. Gary has been playing tough, and if it was not for a couple stupid coaching decisions Gary would be undefeated as well, and a lot harder to say that an 11-5 team coming in to the playoffs is better than an unbeaten peoriod, no matter what conference a team is in.
