I used da DPC 2 shift the DEs 2 an inside shade of the OTs.
Then i pushed the OLBs out a lil farther and about a yard closer 2 da line.
We had a pretty good defense and stopped a lot of teams that ran over 4-3 defenses.
However, this was in a peewee league so mayb i just got lucky

I tried that, but one team I DC'd didn't have the personnel for a 3-4, and the other team just didn't really have personnel at all.

You can achieve success by targetting specific plays and "guessing right," and putting your safeties in the box makes a big difference.

But most of all...you want a monster NT and DEs to pull it off.

you can get DEs with high strength in a custom play and put them as far inside as they can go in a 3-4

I did this with the SS, but it may work with LB's......
I set the AI play to "pass/stack the box less" and still blitz....... what this did, was give the SS a little hesitation before blitzing and attacking the HB. Before, he just ran straight ahead and met either the FB or lineman. This didn't stop the really short yardage gains, but kept the LONG rushing plays at bay.....

Put the NT and DE's right in the gaps between the Linemen so they have more change of drawing a double team and leaving a hole for the LBs.

For instance
Put RDE in the B-gap between the LT and LG
Put NT in the A-gap between the C and RG
Put LDE in the C-Gap between the RT and TE (or the B-gap between the RG and RT )

If your Heavies do their job, you'll have gaps between the C and LG the RG and RT that you're LBs can squeeze though to make a play.

Still, the key to the 3-4 is the D-line drawing multiple blocks, and if your players aren't up to that, you'll get run on whatever you do.

This. The 3-4 is all about getting the D-Line to take as many O-Linemen as possible. If each player takes two, the LBs can easily sneak in there.

Put your LBs on balanced focus in the AI, and Center shift. That will allow them time to diagnose the play

This is a good idea. put your DL in the gaps it makes double blocks and makes your LB free to make plays, u might also use your SS as a LB, so you make the D a 3-5.
