DTs with anything less than 70 strength are getting pancaked to hell. might as well get it up there right away and let level gains help you out the rest of the way

Mine aren't. Not sure why the consensus is that everyone else's are.

Speed is more important for a good pass rusher. IMO its more valuable to up speed first.

Given the OPs build tho, he should train speed up to 30 or so before adding SPs, so I guess str makes sense, there's nothing else to do. I'd consider stocking up on SPs if the team's not in a super competitive division tho.

i've heard a lot of people saying this, and my DT is a perfect example

Yeah but I can't think of a single reason why you would work on speed before you got str and agility up to 74 at the least.

agreed that they should be 70+ before working on anything else

I was not aware DTs were having this problem, especially lower levels, lower leagues. DE pancakes are more glaring issue, imo. Still.... I was curious and looked at your guy's stats.

Regarding Seiji Ogawa, what did you do to stop the preseason bleeding against same conference competition? I count 29 pancakes!

Ogawa's a very slow build, he's going to peak in his late 30s... his build just probably improved quite a bit this season. He had very little strength to start. I think a lot of shed block helps too, cuz if the olineman can't hold the block for long his strength isn't useful.

You seriously expect us to believe that 5 strength, at those numbers, makes that much of a difference?

I said better, I didn't say mind shatteringly better. Actually, the 52 is doing better when I look at all around performance, I guess it's just my expectations which makes me feel he is doing worse.

34
21 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 7 sacks, 13 hurries, 1 FF

52
20 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 5 sacks, 33 hurries, 3 FF, 2 PD

Still considering that the 52 has 11 more stamina, 20 more vision, 20 more confidence, 25 more tackling, higher SAs, and 26 more VA points - I would say I would take 5 points of strength over 5 points of speed if both are very high.

The 34 does have 3 blitz AEQ, which may help him get sack when he gets off the block where the 52 doesn't have the extra boost to get there, but I wouldn't think that the blitz more than makes up for the speed/agility difference.

Your 34 does have less points in all those other attributes, but the people he is going up against aren't as well-rounded as your 52, either, so that's negligible.

All in all, both are solid builds, I just fail to believe that a few points difference really matters all that much. If we are talking the difference between 70 and 60.. that's a 16% increase, so that's understanding.. but only 73 to 78? That's about a 6.3% increase or so.....
