About 5.5 points in QB rating seperates the two, that's a slim enough margin to allow debate. In the NFL there are QBs who finish in the top 3 in their conference in QB rating nearly every year that don't make it to the pro-bowl in favor of others. 5.5 QB rating points is next to nothing in the grand scheme of things.
Blake has thrown for more yards, but DS leads in pretty much all other categories. Now in real life sports, the debate doesn't begin and end with stats, strength of schedule as well as a players own supporting cast is considered into the equation. It's fair to say that Fredericksburg has had a tougher schedule up to this point and the argument that slightly lower stats can be more impressive when put up against tougher competition has been made and won consistantly in real life sports. As for supporting cast, the average lvl of NBAs WRs is 35.7 while fredericksburg's is 32.8. NBA's TEs average lvl 34 while fredericksburg averages 36.5. I haven't gotten the averages from other positions but it appears that NBA Jam has a higher average at HB while Fredericksburg has a higher lvl average at OL. Make the arguments you want here, I would argue that the overall talent of the supporting cast is pretty much a wash so you'd end up with the argument that better stats = better player versus the argument that slightly lesser stats against tougher competition > stats earned against inferior foes.
Who is right? I don't know i'd say it were a toss up considering those two alone, but everyone has their own opinions and are entitled to them. It's not being "a fucking idiot" to make the argument for Blake however, it's an argument that has been made, and won at times, often in modern sports..
