I agree......don't stop trying to do something cool here gmoney just because some people are questioning your results. I think most of us appreciate the work you've done, but just are questioning the output when your spreadsheet spits out the number. TBH, it looks like something is missing in the formula you are using that is keeping the winning teams down the list. Maybe the second "actual scored points compared against projected scores". I'm not sure how your spreadsheet is working, but this has the potential to actually make a team go down the list if they beat a team 100-0 when they were in fact projected to score 125. Not sure, but the rankings haven't fallen into alignment with what is actually happening through 5 games.

Maybe they will come together in a few games, but please don't stop trying to do something cool just because it hasn't exactly worked perfect yet, and people are bitching.

In case no one bothered to read anything this a mathematical representation of the league. Numbers are put in and ranks are spit out. Kinda of like how they rank teams in college football. Not gmoney's bias. Suck it up boys!!!!!

Strength of Record = (Total number of wins of opponents you have defeated) - (Total number of losses of opponents that have beaten you)
Definition
This is measure of how good a team is. It rewards beating good teams and punishes for losing to bad teams.

Quality of Play
Equation
Quality of Play = (Actual total point differential) - (Predicted total point differential)
Definition
It is essentially how many points (total) that team has beaten (or not beaten) the spread by. I feel it is a good indicator of whether a team is playing better or worse than expected.

#1 I am not complaining. I am just trying to figure out his system. It makes little sense. Like I said before. I do appreciate you taking the time to do this I am just trying to see what is missing to make it better. Here is a quote from your pre-season rankings where you said the real rankings would be right in week 4. Well we are in week 5 and your list has a 0-5 team that is getting beat very badly as your #1 team. What games are you counting?

I agree with txfreeze. People can ask questions without bitching. When a poll after 5 weeks tells you that an 0-5 team is #1 and a 5-0 team is #20 and we are all playing in the same division then there are bound to be questions. I'd like to see the rankings continue. Just because people are curious about some wonky results don't take the ball and go home.

If you could see the MOJO forum you would see that I have complemented the pre-game match-up and predictions as very well done.

As far as this equation goes, its just a bad equation. Im not bitching at the person doing the work, I am noting that the system is flawed to the point where losing teams are rewarded for losing (in some cases) and winning teams are not recognized for winning even beating undefeated teams (in some cases).

If you stop doing the power rankings its not that big of a loss because it is just not working. But I hope you will continue to do Pre-game Match-ups. That is well done, your predictions have been solid, and its entertaining.
