Example 1: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=501873&pbp_id=3755549
The defense is playing a regular nickle D. we go twins to the weak side causing a shift in the defense. the TE does a quick slant causing the LOLB to take the TE leaving my HB wide open. now at this point its basically a foot race between my lvl. 39 HB and the lvl. 36 FS and lvl. 36 CB.
Example 2: http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=552225&pbp_id=2915195
here is another on except there are 5 CBs and the inside one is man on the TE while the MLB blitzes leaving my HB open again.
Example 3 http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=552225&pbp_id=2922867
we acually ran this play twice, both for TDs. just a normal nickle defense with only a MLB, but this time the LB drops back inot coverage and he takes the TE while my HB going at full speed while the CB has to gain momentum and catch up, but he doesnt and my HB blows by him.
i'll try and find defensive formations where this doesnt work and i'll keep you guys posted
No offense intended to you or your HB at all, but in the examples you listed you were taking good advantage of very bad defenses.
In the first two examples they are blitzing the guy that is supposed to be covering you, which leaves you wide open, and in the third example they are trying to cover you with a CB that has all the speed and agi of a lineman, and should honestly be retired. I'm glad your OC took advantage there, as that was just like printing money and I would assume he is kicking himself for not doing more of it that game.
Don't get me wrong, as an OC I've used HBs in this way quite a bit myself, and personally have an elusive back with over 800 yards receiving for last season, so I know how effective it can be. However, good defenses with decent players can stop this stuff. In most cases it works as well as it does because of defenses blitzing the guy that should cover the HB.
