Strength goes a long way for a high pass defense bar. If I see a 60 bar I assume he's been focusing too much on str/tackling.

That's completely wrong considering I have a bar of 60 with 30 strength and 40 tackling.

The Receiving bar was cracked a little while ago and strength didn't come into receiving, so I have no reason to believe it comes into pass defence.

As much as I hate to agree with the ass in the hole, taurran's typically correct. Strength does play a big role in the PD bar. Now "too much" is a matter of opinion, and I'm on the record for saying that I believe str/tkl are very important for a CB. Many others disagree with me, but my guys produce the way I built them. Led SA Pro in PD last season and (albeit in a scrimmage) had 0 passes attempted against him in the Santiago Benitos game yesterday.

It's possible, especially at high levels, to get the 60 bar with lower str/tkl numbers, namely because you've had more SP to spend and most likely spend them getting certain things to the 74-cap.

I don't think bars are overrated, I think the pass defence bar is definitely overrated. Overall is something I've had a keen eye on in the last couple of seasons. Do you want a player that's going to do well in many areas or just excel at covering the receiver?

I think now we're seeing new types of builds where people are going for more strength/tackling, so that when the receiver catches the ball they whack them and get them to cough it up. Couple this with Jackhammer and you're laughing.

One thing I don't like seeing is people totally neglecting tackling for a corner... thing is if the running back gets to the outside, half of the time the corner is the only thing standing inbetween him and a TD and the Running Back will just go right through him.

bars mean absolutely nothing. Only the real attributes tell you how good the player is. Bars=overrated.

bad logic

Bars do not mean absolutely nothing. Look at WR bars. They tell you whether a WR is speed/possession/balanced.

The real attributes are not the only thing that tell you how good a player is. Watch the PbP. Look at stats (but be careful). Look at bars because they tell the story (well some of it...not the SA/VA/EQ part).

Bars=overrated is a generalization. In what way are bars overrated?
