I'm making a FS for the first time and plan on making him a fast, coverage safety as opposed to being a big hitter and guy that forces fumbles since it isn't very feasable.

Why not? it's perfectly feasible.

Okay, even talking GLB standards though... the FS is definitely not the fastest on the field.

With the way safety pathing is, the FS almost has to be the fastest player om the dot field.

In GLB, I would, at least in the beginning, build them both the same. Take speed to 68+, then take agility and vision each to 60+. From there, I might build the FS more as a coverage guy by working on jumping and catching, but for the SS it is more important to get strenght and tackling up to 48+.

In past seasons, strength and tackling weren't extremely important for these players. But the sim was changed last season in a way that required more strength and tackling for these positions. I think the current needs for an SS come fairly close to what is needed in the NFL, more strength and tackling.

Keep in mind that this game will change, and different builds can and do work effectively. You will get people who insist that their way is the only way. You should watch the games and watch how your player performs and see what works for you. Don't simply follow everybody elses's advice. If you follow everyone else's advice, you might as well just pay them to build your player for you.

Speed is good for all DB's and I do agree Strong Safety's Need Tackling and Strength mainly because teams run to the right more than to the left and there is a chance you will be the last defense to tackle the HB or you need strength to break blocks.

The Free Safety needs higher vision than the SS IMO mainly because of the Cover 1 and 3 WR sets. I still think the Cover 1 is useless but still Vision is more important to a FS to diagnose pass plays.

BUT like Fatload said build how you want or by experience. I would just watch all different GLB games and see how the SS is moved around a lot and look how close he plays to the line compared to the FS

Because FFs don't happen as often as INTs or PD and going hard hitting will leave you slower than everyone else while having a greater chance at FF which isn't very common. Grante dyou will hit harder but if they catch the ball, then it doesn't really matter.

Neither Safety position needs 60+ vision. that's a myth. they both should have 60+ str instead.

Any empirical evidence to back this up?

F.S. pathing SUCKS BALL. So Does S.S. pathing. I pretty much bring this up in the offseason every single season since season 4. Still hasn't changed.

Well, it is a valid concern since you are making an absolute claim. In order to do so, you should have data backing up your assertion. It appears you have no data thus making your claim null & void. TIA
