I think what everyone is pissed about is that the Meatballs are giving off this air of "whoa, we didn't change anything, this was how we operated in the regular season 100%" We all know its not, that something changed moving into the playoffs.

Mal used to split carries in the regular season. The Meatballs passed more in the regular season. Something changed. Don't come back when people point out changes and say nothing was altered, its an insult to our intelligence.

Am I upset about the changes? To be honest, I'm not a happy camper but that's more with the state of the simulation that what you guys have done as a team. Its the same reason I'm not too upset with Tiffany, they did what they had to do to try and win games.

The key difference here is that Tiffany will come out and say "Yeah, we're taking advantage of the simulation" but Stockholm won't come out and say "Yeah, we adjusted our game plan to the simulation a little more in the playoffs." Not saying it was right or wrong to do, but it happened, we can see it, and to deny it is flat out annoying. You made a change to win games, a change you knew could upset people. Just come out and say it, say you did it to win and put the issue to bed, don't act like you're 100% innocent. That is all.

I wouldn't say that's true.

1) people were pissed at us before we said ANYTHING. we didn't come in here bragging. In fact, we all said 'good game' and tried to be good sports. Then we got bashed. We DID say that we've always been a power run first team and we aren't apologizing for that.

2) Of course it changes during the playoffs; there are different effects in the playoffs. In fact, we aren't going to just run the same playbook we did in the regular season, because we expect to be scouted and feel the need to change things up. That's just good gameplay.

1 simple reason; XP. We believe in getting EVERYONE their XP. We split carries and ran some plays to make certain everyone got the full benefit of the season. There is no XP in the playoffs, so why run palys that don't work? No one is saying we didn't change; we're just saying that we've ALWAYS been a power team first. So now it's 70/30 (80/20 late in the game) instead of 60/40... so what?

THIS I can totally agree with. If people are mad at the sim, then that's fine. My issue is NOT disliking the play (or, more importantly, the stamina issue after x number of plays, which I think is a bigger deal). My issue is people blaming US, like we are somehow to blame for it happening.

Here is what we're denying; that we're running these cheating plays with any more ferocity than we ever have. Are we leaning on our power running more? Yeah, but percentage wise, look at our play choices. Everyone is ignoring everything else we've done. We are NOT sorry for using every play GLB has authorized. But we aren't doing anything wrong, and we will NOT lie down and turn ourselves in for being competitive.

I have a problem with certain 'holier than thou' sore losers who can't have proper sportsmanship about this. We aren't taking steroids; we're putting the best batter in the clean-up position. If in baseball you are in a tie game with the bases loaded and I send the shortest pinch hitter with the smallest strike zone in... is that cheating? Sure, you KNOW I'm doing it because I expect you to walk him... but that's not cheating. You aren't being holier than thou. You are being fair, and seeing the other side, DESPITE your issues with the game itself. But you aren't necessarily taking it out on us. I can respect that. But I'm not going to just shoulder the sacrificial lamb garb because other people are pissed about not using the whole playbook.

We'll do whatever we can to take the trophy this season, and no matter what changes occur between now and season 9, we'll do everything in our damndest to do it again. I hope they DO fix that issue, because THEN we'll rush with Legend or pass to our excellent WR corps.

Infinity, we definitely adjusted our gameplan. No doubt about it and I have been one of the most vocal about doing so since the playoffs started. I have zero problem with using it and we have won 2 playoff games by a total of 19 points so it doesnīt seem to me like we are using some godly cheat.

Funny that you should mention sportsmanship ... And as for being a "sore loser", I ask you once more how you figure that. E-City lost to Graz, who certianly did not use any chees play, and I already was vocal regarding my feelings on this issue before any team that I have players on even played one of the cheese squads. So, prey tell, how does that qualify me as a sore loser?

I don't have a problem with the meatballs using their strategy, and with the admission that there were changes made for the sake of winning, I'm all good as of now. All I wanted to a definitive "Yes, we altered things" and that came down the pipe.

As for the pinch-hitter example, its not cheating, but it is rather cheap. Sort of like stealing signs. Its not against the rules per say but its not the most honorable way to win. Not to have that statement reflect on the Meatballs though, the adjustments made were slight in comparison to those two examples.

Either way, I'm happy we're all in agreement that Bort mucked this season up and hopefully the changes on tap for Season 9 will get us going in the right direction again.

And you are blaming PLAYERS and TEAMS for a problem you have with the SIM. You are trying to condemn US for doing something fair and legal (leaning on our running game and using every effective play in the book). When you come in here and trash the winning team when they didn't do anything wrong... THAT'S being a sore loser. It's poor sportsmanship.

And I've said that before. You bring your A game. We'll bring ours. It's not our fault if you don't expect it or like it.

Iīll admit, it is not a fun way to win, it perhaps isnīt "honourable", but winning is still more fun than losing. And, in RL, I also deplore the logic of if-I-donīt-do-it-someone-else-will. One of my brothers designs laser guided bombs and says just that when people ask how he can stomach his own work. But this is just an online game, this isnīt killing people.

It's a HUGE internet sim game. This game started a year ago and got FUCKING GIGANTIC over the course of 2 months. Every 2 days, there are some 1600 games, with at least 50 plays each, and with how many (300,000?) unique builds involved.

If anyone didnt' see a bump in the road like this... come on. We have to expect that some things will be slightly skewed. I don't blame Bort for it; this wasn't purposeful. It's just something that happens in games like these. Should it be corrected? Sure, but making those changes is ALSO a fine line.

So what?

They abuse Strong I like so many other teams in GLB... and I honestly can't blame them for it...

I gotta disagree with you... I feel like I'm being disrespected when my opponent thinks they're too good to use certain plays. It's a sign of disrespect that someone thinks they don't need to try that hard to win.

But that's just how it is; many ways to see the same thing.

People are often complaining that this game is getting to complex. If I would be a DC (what I never have been so I have no idea about defense at all) I would just put all my players in the middle and hope to stop the slam with less than 3 yds gain. Gameplanning is a matter of 2 minutes so you have more time doing other stuff.

No, what you missed was my comments after the first round, where I said the exact same thing without any affiliation to any team that lost to a cheese squad.

Yeah, all two of them, you guys are so smart. I bow to your clearly superior knowledge of the game and it's intrinsics, we clearly could not hold a candle to the way you game "planned" your offense for the playoffs.

Come on, this play (or, correctly, tactic) that everyone is complaining about was unstoppable last season, too ( http://goallineblitz.com/game/game.pl?game_id=372460 ). jprietman worked it out by the midway point in season 7. Bort does sim updates up to week 12, and has a team of testers supposed to be looking for this kind of thing. Nothing has been changed. That one of those testers is one of the most vocal critics of how we just won is hugely ironic.
