Your DC calls a 335 against the SB formation, and the team you played used the SB formation A LOT...which is why so many 3 man fronts were called....
I never found a spot in the game where two 4-man fronts were played in a row...
But to make a long story short, your player will not see any action unless your DC calls two 4-man fronts in a row.. and that is the crux of your problem.
That is the problem. (maybe only a problem against the SB formation though, which the team you played HAPPENED to run alot of)
edit: also your DC runs 3 man fronts against other things.... so far from what I have seen he only uses 4 man fronts against 2WR formations, like I-form, strong I, weak I, etc...
The 4 man fronts are the only ones where you get a DT and a NT playing at same time, which is what u need two of in a row to get playing time...so if you go thru the game and find a spot where two 4-man fronts are called back-back and you STILL dont go in, then I will not know wtf is going on....
Well, the one example (above) from our second preseason game, we started the game with eight straight defensive plays. We played all of them from a four man front. All the other DLine postions rotated perfectly.
BUT...the DT position didn't rotate...the starting DT played 8 plays in a row.
The owner said the setting was the same for the first preseason game, the second preseason game, and the first regular season game (he said he didn't make any changes).
That is actually repeated quite a bit during the first two games...where even on four player fronts, the starting DT plays every down.
