If you expect to get a release, you better make sure your contract is up. If not the owner still has the final say since you agreed to the deal before.
Take a trade, heck, take it upon yourself to go find a team to try and get a trade done. It is certainly better than crying all season long.

I'm not saying who is right or wrong in this case between 12th and Chris, like you said, I don't know everything that has happened between the two.
