My DT has over 100 strength and he wasn't terrible. He got three sacks, 2 forced fumbles, and 30 tackles, plus we were a pretty good defense and he never really got burned.

So high strength DT's (Not NT's) can be effective pass rushers? Would that entail using the "bull rush" pass rushing setting? And would playing the pass make him a better pass rusher?

Also, for high strength pass rushing DT's, strong base is more effective than shed block right?

seems to me like a good NT. my DT was always built STR first, but i saw a huge improvement 2 seasons ago when i switched my equip. been going for AGI ever since, and im happy with the results. he makes more plays in the passing AND running game than ever before.

casey hampton vs warren sapp. both have been great pros. only one was a 'playmaker'.

im gonna stop the pyramid, but...

the trend with NFL teams has started to change. Yes, teams do want a assive 1 tek, who needs to be constantly double teamed, but they are starting to look for more athletic dt's to penetrate into the backfield and make plays in the passing game.

for instance, Albert Haynsworth the the Titans is a massive DT,a dn would probably have 125 STR in GLB. but the titans play tony brown next to him, who is quite a bit under 300 pounds, and is there to disrupt the offense.

a great example of a player like this is Darnell Dockett. not only is he a beast from FSU, but he is also a traditionally undersized DT who relies on his quickness and explosion to beat blockers, rather than sheer strength.

Having 100 Str is fine at either DT or NT, but what would really determine your success is your Agility, Speed, Vision, SA's, and VA's. I seen several 100 Str, 70 Agi, 60 Spd, and High SB DT's reck havoc on the line and in the backfield. The key part to remember is that Shed Block is not just a pass rushing SA. It only states that it is more effective in the pass rush.

What do you usually have your pass rushing settings at? (for those that have over 100 strength)
